The BSI CMOS full-format sensor with triple resolution technology of the Leica SL3 is safely protected in a solid all-metal housing with elegant leather covering. For flexible adaptation to the respective photographic requirements, the sensor records raw files in DNG or JPEG format with a resolution of either 60, 36 or 18 MP. The full sensor area is used at every resolution. Together with the dynamic range expanded to 15 stops and the impressive ISO range from 50 to 100,000, the SL3 delivers remarkably detailed shots with outstanding image quality – in all lighting conditions.
The SL3’s innovative autofocus system combines the strengths of three technologies with phase detection (PDAF), depth map (Object Detection AF) and contrast detection (Contrast Detection AF) to deliver razor-sharp images even in low light. Intelligent subject recognition also supports photographing dynamic scenes.
The EyeRes® viewfinder of the Leica SL3 is equipped with an elaborately manufactured optical system made of glass lenses. It displays the subject crystal clear at all times with up to 120 frames per second and a resolution of 5.76 million pixels. Thanks to the live preview, it offers full control when exposing and composing shots before they are released. The tiltable 3-inch high-res touchscreen with a high-quality tilting mechanism is new. This opens up even more creative possibilities for photography and filming thanks to unusual viewing angles. The SL3 records videos in a resolution of up to 8K.
