1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?
Cold mint tea with gin! It’s been my summer 2022 drink. It’s fresh and isn’t too bubbly that it would stop ya from dancing if you felt like it.
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
I just put out my first EP “Fairlight” it’s 3 tracks of glossy supercharged synth pop.
The second track Moonbeam offers a bit of relief from the distorted energy of Fairlight and Time Trial and offers a bit more of a psychedelic/euphoric vibe.
3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)
That the new world order is trying to get us all to eat bugs. It’s so dystopian it’s hilarious. I’d probably try it out, but it also might be a good time to go veg.
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
Gogoro. It’s future tech, leisurely, and fun! Producing music for me is a lot about using fresh new sounds and using them to create something fun!
5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?
The lyrics for all the songs on the EP came from listening back to the piece after the instrumental was written. For all three songs on this EP I let the tone of the instrumentation and rough vocal melodies determine the lyrical content. There was a sense of speed and motion, and building tension in the B section. Looking back I felt like these feelings shared parallels to the summer leading up to leaving my hometown to study sound production. It was a busy summer and I was DJing at least once a week at various parties as well as trying to get time in with everyone I was going to miss. I picked from various scenes of the summer for the verses and let the repeated pre chorus outline the way I was feeling at the time. I don’t think that for any of these songs on the EP I have any messages that I’m trying to create as much as just scenes and feelings.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I can usually make my friends laugh with a couple of impressions that I do. I record voice actors for cartoons at my day job and some of it rubs off on me with little characters and voices. Scooby Doo is probably my best.
7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
1. I design every synth myself and I’m very proud of the sound design. It was a great way to make sure that my early work sounded incredibly amateur, but in the long run I think it payed off.
2. I mix everything myself. Again, this took a while to get sounding right, but having the ability to do it makes sure that everything sounds just how I like it.
3. I’m not trying to push any message of narrative. I much more enjoy the listener to find their own meaning to the music and let it even change for them over time.
4. Curiosity is at the heart of my work. Frequently I’ll tinker with a sound until it inspires me, then, I’ll let the voice of the sound shape it’s own melody. It’s fun to leave some ends open especially when your just starting. In the later phases of production I’ll start being more specific with choices to compliment the existing writing.
5. I love sci-fi and cyberpunk media and I try to let that influence the sonic motifs.
8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??
I’ve been playing keys since I was a kid and producing since I was a teen. I only recently started singing. I didn’t think it was me for me for a long while, but I realized I needed to sing to create the music I wanted to. So I enrolled in voice lessons just less than a year ago. it’s been really fun.
9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
What’s your favorite video games?
And it’s two games actually.
1. Crash Team Racing for PS1 the weapons and aesthetic are much cooler and Mario kart, while providing the same thrill. My youngest sister is one of the only people I know who can beat me at the game.
2. SSX blur – soundtracked by one of my first fav producers; Junkie XL, this game let me live my teenage snowboarding dreams to their fullest while I was learning how to ride myself. I found out that being a generally un-coordinated teen and 6’3 that snowboarding irl wasn’t going to be my specialty in life.
