Do you love playing pickleball? Do you want to find a way to take your game to the next level?

While playing more and going to tournaments at places near the Embassy Suites Charleston SC are great starting points; if you really want to win more games, be sure to use the tips found below.

Move to the Kitchen – Fast

When playing pickleball, the best position on the court is at the kitchen line. This puts more pressure on your competition and opens several shot angles. It’s important to get to the kitchen quickly; however, you need to do this safely.

Many people blindly rush into the kitchen only to have a pickleball smashed right into you. Pay attention to where the ball is going and the position of your opponents before moving. If you notice they are about to make a shot while you are moving to the kitchen, you need to stop and get ready to return the shot instead. It will be easier to return a shot like this rather than trying to place a shot while you are moving. After you return to the ball, continue your advance.

Keep Your Opponents as Far Back as You Can

This is basically the opposite of the advice given above. If the best position to be in is at the kitchen line, it makes sense that you would want to keep your opponents on the baseline. If you can keep them back while you are on the kitchen line, it gives you a huge advantage. They have more court to cover and have to hit a drop shot in their kitchen if they want to advance.

If one or both other players can’t make it to the kitchen line, be sure to keep them far away by hitting the ball to their feet. This is an awkward shot for them and will increase the likelihood that they will make a mistake.

Improve Your Serves

An effective way to improve your serve is just to get them in. While it will feel good to hit something hard to the baseline or have a tricky spin serve, you don’t have a winning strategy if you wind up hitting about half of your serves out of bounds or in the net.

If you miss your serve, it is the same thing as giving up your chance to put more points on the board. It’s possible to beat players that are more skilled than you are if you play smart and become a consistent server. Make sure you get your serves in and let the other players make costly mistakes.

Remember, the goal isn’t to win a point when you serve. The goal needs to be to put pressure on your opponent, so they can’t make an easy return shot. Put the ball as deep into the court as possible to attempt to target the other player’s backhand. Just make sure your moves are controlled and that you keep the ball in the play area.

Practice Good Communication

Communicating with your partner during pickleball may not seem to have any huge benefits. However, you need to ensure you two are on the same page. Be sure to get into the habit of saying „mine“ or „yours,“ which will help keep you both from going after the shot.
