Slye – ‚Do You Dream In Black And White?‘ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

Brew yourself a nice cup of tea, make sure you leave the tea bag in for at least 30 seconds and squeeze it on the side.

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

Lots of new and exciting content coming this year. My debut music video ‘Do You Dream In Black And White’ releases 30/09/22, this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time and finally getting to explore that area of my artist output was a real joy.

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I love a good conspiracy theory, probably the one about the royal family and politicians all being lizards is my favourite, although if that came out as true, I wouldn’t really be that surprised.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

70s fashion is a big inspiration for me, this appeared to be a decade of liberation and a time where individuality was freely expressed through art and style, something I think we could benefit from reflecting upon.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

‘Do You Dream In Black And White?’ Is surreal more than informative. I wanted this song to be absent of anything too heady of intellectual. I wanted it to be purely instinctive. I wrote the lyrics in one go and then just built the rest around it.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Special talents? All my eggs are definitely in the music basket but I recently discovered that I’m surprisingly good at archery.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I write, perform and produce everything you hear, with very few exceptions.

My influences are very broad, from funk and soul, to bluegrass and djent metal

I perform with my group mainly in Liverpool but we are starting to play other cities around the UK

My inspiration comes from across the creative field, from film, fashion and even perfumery.

I’m trying to find the perfect intersection between groove and storytelling.

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I had lessons for guitar and singing, but I taught myself production and songwriting mainly from listening to other artists or through Youtube tutorials. It’s amazing what lessons, tips and tricks you can learn through online education.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

I’ve never been asked about my lyrical influences. I’m a huge fan of Aldous Huxley and his ability to walk the line between essay and novel with such grace and wit. I aim to hopefully write lyrics that are thoughtful but never too academic or preachy. I think the next few releases are my best attempt of this to date.
