Jean-Mikhael – „Don’t Come Back“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Hello my names Jean-Mikhael, I’m a singer songwriter from London.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

Well my new single ‘Don’t Come Back’ has just come out. It was like a new era in some way for me. I hadn’t released music in some time due to the pandemic and thought I’d use it for me to really home in on my craft and the type of artist I wanted to be. Releasing ‘Don’t Come Back’ had a lot of thought and intention behind it. I also have a live performance video of the track coming as well.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I’m shy.

I love rollercoaster rides.

Most of my songs are true stories about myself.

Prince is one of my biggest inspirations.

I love to eat especially when I’m bored.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Versace. It’s loud, bold, powerful and strong. Also intimate and revealing.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I want people to be inspired. To be given courage and strength to go for what they want. People have said no to me for many things especially in music. Life isn’t always easy and we are going to hit obstacles but it’s about how you get over them and whether you fight to get to the other side.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I love to cook. I always cook for my friends and family when I have time.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Being on stage feels like home. I become alive. I forget everything because my head is deep in the moment. The way I’m feeling that day is what comes out on that stage, my anger, happiness, my love. It’s one place that makes me vulnerable but safe at the same time.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I always knew I could sing from an early age, but I just worked on it more and more with vocal coaches and lessons. I would write songs all the time. That’s the only way to really better yourself, is to always practice. Eventually you find what works for you.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

What was the process of making ‘Don’t come back’?

I remember on the day of going to the studio, I was getting ready. The chorus just came to my head. I don’t really know why but it just did so I recorded a voice note. As soon as I got to the studio I knew that was what I wanted to record that day. It took about 2 days to write and record. It’s definitely one of my favourite songs to create.
