IMANU – ‘Paradise’ – EP + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

Good question! I’d say a herby gin tonic! Personally, I’m a big fan of Gin Mare with elderflower tonic, with some extra herbs and spices such as black pepper, sichuan peppercorn, basil etc! If going for something non-alcoholic, my favourite drink has to be tea, maybe a hojicha or milky oolong?

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I just released my Paradise EP and started the North America leg of the Paradise tour! Right now I’m in LA, working on some music in between show dates, Also hitting Australia and New Zealand towards the end of the year. The EP spans eight tracks across various genres, all kind of tied together with the melancholic themes.

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I would love for the moon to actually be made of cheese! I’m lactose intolerant though so hopefully that wouldn’t affect me too much!

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

My own brand 14SAINTDENIS of course 😉 I like wearing a lot of tailored black clothing, keeping logos and prints to a minimum most of the time. A hint of red or earth tones here and there and you’ve got the IMANU fit! Brand I like are – Yohji Yamamoto, Rick Owens, CDG Homme Plus, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, (For lesser known – Joe Chia, The VIridi Anne, Nude:MM, 14SAINTDENIS).

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I like letting the listener have their own understanding of a song so I’m not going to go too deep into it, I just love making moody music that you could listen to at home or in a warehouse setting,

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

My other passions are fashion and food. I’d say I can cook up a decent meal, usually Italian, Chinese or Surinamese, and I recently launched my brand 14SAINTDENIS with Cynthia Liu.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I love the colour black.

I love melancholy.

I love not explaining my music that much.

I love tattoos.

I love creating a world, rather than single songs.

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I only know how to produce and compose music, don’t know how to play any instruments well and can’t sing. I basically taught myself through YouTube tutorials and collaboration.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
