Hunter – „Closer“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

A: I love this question. I am personally a red wine girl myself, but this album calls for more of a summer cocktail kind of vibe. I say you should turn the album up loud, open the windows, and fix yourself my summer afternoon favorite: Tito’s and soda or tequila and soda with lemon and lime and a couple of ice cubes. Throw a hot pink umbrella toothpick in there too!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

A: So I just dropped my three singles over the summer. They’ve all been extremely well received so far, which is music to my ears. I’m dropping my official album at the end of September 2022. When that’s released, I’m immediately booking local shows in Southern California and jumping back into the studio to write my sophomore album. I also just dropped my first official music video for my latest track titled “Closer,” which is total click bait you have to see it: beautiful wardrobe, hot sweaty men, a cute little dog, a mansion, sunshine, smiles … we had SO much fun shooting it. Watching it is like eating your favorite ice cream.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

A: Haha. My inner child has always wanted aliens to be real. But only the nice ones. So we could hang out, we could take our spaceships to each other’s planets and have sleepovers and take fun friend trips to other galaxies together. Maybe they could help us out down here on Earth a bit, clean up what we’ve done and rebuild the planet together.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

A: If Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa and Amy Winehouse all shared a closet. That would be my music’s style.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

A: My songs were written for my listeners, based on my life experiences. Whenever inspiration strikes or a messages comes to me that I think needs to be shared, I’ll put it down on paper. All of my songs are themed around real-world experiences that (I hope) are relatable to the listener. My album tells stories about things like having a crush on someone at the office, realizing your relationship is ending, how to move forward through big life changes, being attracted to someone and wanting to be in their presence. We’ve all been there, and I’m here to sing you through it.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

A: Not to toot my own horn, but I am a whistling QUEEN. I can whistle any song, any time, any place. I also used to be a professional cake decorator back in the day. I still have my decorating set and I pull it out to make special cakes for my friends on their birthdays. I can ride a horse, pitch a tent and catch a fish (I grew up in Montana.) Oh and I have perfected the floss dance.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

A: I kind of fell into it all through forces of the universe. My mom told me I was singing myself to sleep in the crib before I could speak. She’s also a gifted singer herself, so she was the one who really supported me and got me into musicals and choirs in school at a young age. And it snowballed from there. Both my parents have great musical taste too, so I grew up listening to and learning from artists like Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Barbra Streisand, Carole King, Aretha, Etta and Ella. I would sit for hours on end in the basement every night listening to piano karaoke tracks with sheet music, teaching myself how to sing and read music. For fun! Taught myself how to play drums, guitar, harmonica, ukulele, piano. I ended up going to college for music, where I really got to hone in and learn to write songs. I’ve had many teachers along the way.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

A: No one ever asks what I ALMOST did instead of music. Or what career would I be doing if it weren’t for music? The answer is: I’d be a psychologist (I am actually putting myself through school on the side to become one, I’ve always wanted to get a second degree in psych. Nerd alert!!), owner of a dog rescue, or a stat keeper for professional basketball. (I’ve been a Lakers girl since the 4th grade.)
