Summer is the time for shorts, sleeveless tanks and swimsuits. Whether you are taking an exotic vacation or simply lounging by the pool at home, every guy wants to look his best during the summer. Below are tips for getting into shape for the hottest season of the year.

Supplements

Supplements are one of those things many men often forget about, which is unfortunate because they can promote a healthy lifestyle. Take a daily multivitamin to ensure you are getting the minerals your body needs. Your doctor can likely recommend if there are any deficiencies you need to balance out. That way, you can incorporate an extra dose of those minerals into your daily routine as well.

If you need to lose weight before hitting the beach, there are products specifically created for men that  assist with shedding pounds. Taking quality fat burners on a regular basis can aid in your weight loss journey. Add them to your vitamin regimen to help you lose that extra weight.

Exercise

Working out is a necessary part of a healthy lifestyle. That does not mean you have to do cardio for an hour-and-a-half, seven days a week in order to have an effective workout. In fact, if you have been doing the same exercises for some time, it would probably be beneficial to mix it up and try something new.

If you have a gym membership, utilize the different machines and classes they have available. If you do not have a membership but are interested in getting one, ask the gyms you are interested in if they offer a trial week. Many gyms will offer this for free so you can get the full experience before you buy.

If you do not have a gym membership, there are still numerous workout options available. You can exercise outside completely free. Go for a ride on your bike or a jog around the neighborhood. If you want to follow a specific type of workout, such as a cardio or ab workout, search for a free session online. YouTube has a variety of free videos. Otherwise, invest in an at-home workout machine, such as a stationary bike or weightlifting machine.

Food

Maybe you follow a fairly strict diet. Maybe you could care less about what you eat. Either way, chances are between Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine’s Day, you have had your fair share of treats. Revamping your diet will not only help you feel better but also help shed any extra weight you gained during the holidays.

Take a hard look at what you eat on a regular basis. You will need to incorporate carbohydrates and fats into your meals, as these types of food give you energy. They should not, however, be the largest portion on your plate at each meal. Your diet should mainly consist of fruits, proteins and vegetables. If there are meals or desserts you like to indulge in, do so but limit your intake. Eat a couple slices of pizza or a slice of cake, not the whole thing.

Drinks

Drinks are a sneaky way for calories to make it into your diet. You likely have at least one drink that you intake on a regular basis that is filled with calories. Be it beer, soda, energy drinks, juice or mixed coffee drinks, these beverages can be a threat to your waistline and overall health.

Cut the caloric drinks from your diet and replace them with water. If you need some flavor with your beverage, purchase lightly flavored carbonated water from the grocery store, such as La Croix or Bubly. Or you can simply make your own flavored water by adding in some fruit. Try a few different combinations until you find one you like, such as raspberries and lemon or grapefruit and strawberries.

With all the outdoor activities available during the summer, you want to be confident that you look your best. These recommendations will help you get there. Incorporate them into your routine to get your body ready for summer.
