Houston X – ‚SWYWS‘ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend sipping on while they listen to your new music?

“This is a unique question. Honestly, I’m such a simple person. I find beauty in calm, and although my music balances around different genres, they are all tuned to make you feel something. I like to sip the honey version of Jack Daniels’ whiskey, so I’d say you start with that one, and see how you feel after.”

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?

“My new single ‘SWYWS’ is an instalment of the multiple songs I’m about to drop this year as I plan to release new music every month. So, you can be expecting an album or project soon. I’ve been working hard on creating new videos and content. I’m inspired by Cole Bennett’s use of an iPhone camera to create some of his most popular YouTube videos. Hence why this music video was mainly shot on an iPhone.”

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

“I can’t lie, I love these questions. I would say the people in power are lizards. They’re slimy, and never tell us the truth. I want to see them in their true colours.”

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

“I don’t know. I really identify with streetwear. I’d think maybe edgy and cool brands such as the likes of Rick Owens, Louis Vuitton, Stussy, Burberry, and Supreme. I also think smart too, like in a tuxedo or a nice dress, because some of my music is suited for that vibe too.”

Tell us more about your songs. Topics? Message behind SWYWS?

“Many of my songs have the message of love and heartbreak and getting over certain obstacles caused by the mind. But for SWYWS, it was quite different as I was going through a huge change in my life. In the world we live in now, everybody is so scared to be vocal about certain topics. So, the meaning of the song is in the name; Say What You Wanna Say!”

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

“Well, I actually play the drums really well, but that’s music related so I’ll skip that. I can code in JavaScript and used to create games. I also play football and basketball and I’m skilled at those sports too.”

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist.

“I’m an innovator and pioneer of new sounds.

I tailor my music to make people feel something.

I really like to connect with my fans.

I take criticism very well.

I aim to be bigger than my inspirations.”

How did you learn to rap/sing?

“It just happened to be honest with you. I’ve been in the choir since I was a little kid, and I was just unconsciously training my voice for what it’s capable of now. As for rapping, I practice when I’m writing new music, or just listening to a beat. Every moment is a learning experience so I take it step by step to ensure I can make the most out of it.”

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before? + Answer

“I’ve always wanted to be asked what career I wanted to go into before starting music. I would answer that by saying, I wanted to be a pilot. I wanted to be above everything and soar like the eagles. I think I would have been a pretty good pilot.”
