Ed Staal – ‚Baby Blue‘ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

Thanks so much for having me! I’m picturing Blue Lagoons, WKD or even Gatorade….ANY DRINK THAT’S BLUE!

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

So excited for the next few months, Baby Blue and the video are now out as of last week with more singles coming every month until October when we will be dropping my newest EP ‘Battle Scars & Broken Hearts’.

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I love the conspiracy theory that Sam Smith and Adele may be the same person… I’d love for this to be true and somehow make a song with both of their alter egos….haha

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

A brand I’ve repped in the video and have worked with before is Goose & Gander, who like me are up and coming as a brand and I think work hand in hand with me and my music at the moment.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Most of my songs are autobiographical or thereabouts and tackle different aspects of relationships that I feel like people may familiarise themselves with. Whether it’s romantic, friendship or family, these are the things that mean the most to me hence why I find myself writing about them.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I absolutely LOVE football and have been playing since I was a kid! Always dreamt of being a footballer or a musician…and I’m just thankful I’ve at least fulfilled one of the two!

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I’m quite a literal writer and will write things how I want…not how others may want it. My music is influenced from so many musical aspects from my upbringing such as Soul, Pop, R&B, Rock. I play in almost all the instruments myself (bar drums….but that will come soon!). I‘ve been writing songs since I was around 8 years old. Last off, I think I’d generally say I’m a pop artist that incorporates different genres, but stands out because of my voice!

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

My whole family are musical, so I learnt to play by watching and asking and failing at home, and then just trial and errored my way here. For me growing up music was an outlet that I NEEDED, not just wanted.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Hmmm….ok. My question would be “What inspired you to make the decision to actually take your first real steps to become an artist?”. To which I would say; I’ve always believed that I was good at playing and making music, but what drove me to becoming an artist was the belief that what I was doing could reach and affect so many people… and I got this belief from my friends and family, for which I am eternally grateful.
