Coyle Girelli – „True Love Forever“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

Something red and tasty. Maybe a blood orange margarita.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

The new single “True Love Forever”  is the first of many releases for me in 2023.  It’s the first glimpse at music  from a theatrical show that I have created with theater company Third Rail Projects. The piece, also titled “True Love Forever”  is an exploration of love, lust, loss, heartbreak and everything in between and one that I hope heals those who experience it. The song TRUE LOVE FOREVER is a moment in that story. It’s a wide eyed, hopeful, adrenalin and wonder filled question in this journey. Is everything going to work out this time? Is it True Love Forever?

At the same time I’m working on a brand new album separate to the new single which i’m planning on releasing in the summer with the first single from the new album coming in late March / early April. I’ve been busy in the studio finishing the first half of it over the last few weeks. I love how it’s sounding. I have a working title for the album but haven’t landed on the final title for it yet.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

Haha! We do! Some whacky stuff out there. I think my fave would be that humans already have secret bases on Mars. I love the idea of we humans starting to spread our galactic wings and becoming an interplanetary species. It’s inevitable and so speeding this process up by would be nice.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Alternative Dystopian Indie Folk Pop

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

The theatrical show True Love Forever is based on the music of my first solo album “Love Kills.” “Love Kills” is very much a concept heartbreak album and lives in one space emotionally.  So as we started creating “True Love Forever” the show we had to build out much more of a story arch.  The song “True love forever” was written to the moment when love strikes. Where a couple fall for each other and the ills of life melt away. It’s hopeful and all-encompassing. Filled with an almost childish wonder. I tried to capture this in the instruments and the rhythm and melody. With the chorus asking over and over “maybe it’s true love forever?”

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I have the uncanny ability to make it rain in Los Angeles every time I visit

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

  1. I was originally the lead singer and songwriter in UK indie bands Your Vegas and later The Chevin

  2. I have written songs for other recording artists including BTS, Macklemore, Robin Schulz, Keli Holiday, Peking Duk, Daisy The Great and many more.

  3. I am English but have lived in New York City for most of my adulthood.

  4. I am a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and have self-produced my own recent albums

  5. I am a Manchester City fan.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

By listening to other songs and learning how to play them. Then writing what feels like a million songs. It’s a never ending process. I feel like i’m still learning to write, play and sing. And I feel like i’m still learning so much about it all and getting better and better with every new song. That’s the point of it I guess. Never be satisfied. Never stop striving to be better. Never stop learning. Never stop practicing. Never stay still.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

I feel like i’m never asked my thoughts on the modern music business as there seem to be so many conflicting opinions on it. As someone who grew up in the era of CDs, then watched them vanish as everyone illegally downloaded or bought music on iTunes, to the birth of Spotify and streaming i’ve seen the music industry take several seismic shifts throughout my career to date. And i must say the current model is my favorite yet. Streaming has given the artist the power and control over their music for the first time in history. It’s enabled anyone, anywhere in the world to release music whenever they want to a potentially global audience at the click of a button.  It’s an incredibly exciting time to be an artist. You get to build your own ecosystem on your own terms for yourself and your fans. Separate from record companies and all the noise. You get to create and own your art in your own world.
