With its latest timepiece, Swiss watch brand Certina reaffirms its unwavering passion for the depths of the oceans. The DS SUPER PH1000M first appeared in 1970, causing a sensation both above and below the water. Today, that early model is succeeded by not one but two variants: a limited edition of 1000 pieces featuring a bright orange dial, plus an unlimited version in black. The distinctive wristwatches are powered by a cutting-edge automatic calibre with an 80-hour power reserve and NivachronTM balance spring.
There is no denying its vintage charm: The new DS SUPER PH1000M takes its inspiration from a model first seen in the 1970s. Back then, the timepiece set the benchmark in the field of waterproof watches: The historical predecessor of the original was used with great success in the Tektite II programme, which saw five aquanauts living and researching in a diving base on the seabed for up to four weeks. The new duo continuing this legacy captures not only the extreme water resistance but also the design from back then. The distinctive fluted and unidirectional bezel with a black aluminium ring is just as eye-catching now as it was then.
The DS SUPER PH1000M confidently stands out from the crowd. The stainless steel case features a gently curved barrel shape measuring 43.5 mm x 42 mm. At 9 o’clock there is a helium outlet valve for use on professional dives. The fluted, raised design of the rotating bezel not only makes it easy to handle, but also gives the watch visual depth. Wide indices and hands with Super-LumiNova® coating ensure maximum readability in the dark. Two versions are available: The version with the orange dial is limited to 1000 pieces, while the black version with orange accents is available as standard in the collection. The watches have a choice of a black rubber strap or a textile strap made of #tide ocean material®.
A maritime timepiece with a passion for extreme depths, the DS SUPER PH1000M offers exceptional water resistance to 100 bar (1000 metres). Its mechanical Powermatic 80 calibre ensures a precise heartbeat. Other standout features include automatic winding, a power reserve of up to 80 hours and a magnetic field-resistant NivachronTM balance spring – all of which ensures this ambitious wristwatch is always ready for any adventure, on land or under water!
The new DS SUPER PH1000M is both a reliable companion and a style statement. It is supplied in special premium packaging and will be available at official CERTINA retailers worldwide from November 2023.
