Belgian tailor first man ever to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in a three piece suit

Tommaso Bordoni a 32 year old Belgian tailor who founded the clothing brand BORDONI in 2017 did the unthinkable. He summited the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world, dressed in a three piece suit. He was even wearing a tie. Being the first to ever do so Bordoni above all aims to inspire people to believe in themselves and their dreams, no matter how improbable they may seem.

This not only represents a challenge for Bordoni, but is also a demonstration of his brand’s motto: “Viam aut inveniam aut Faciam” or “I will either find a way or make one”. Bordoni hopes that his successful completion of this gruelling challenge will inspire people to believe in themselves and their dreams, no matter how unreachable they may seem. “I want to show the world that with hard work, dedication and perseverance anything is possible”, Bordoni explained.

He was definitely aware of the risks and challenges associated with climbing a mountain of this calibre. “After all, I am not a mountaineer, which is why I went through intensive training. I also consulted medical professionals to ensure that I am physically fit enough to take on such a challenge,” the 32 year old designer of bespoke suits added.

“Moreover, this journey is not just about me, but about the millions of people around the world who have dreams which they think are unattainable. I hope my journey will spark conversations and inspire people across the globe to believe in themselves and their true potential. Together we can show the world that anything is possible.“

“My goal is not to break records or set new standards, but to inspire others to push boundaries and achieve the seemingly impossible. Representing a brand that prides itself on personalized and bespoke clothing, I also promote a message of individuality and self-expression.”

The made to measure suit that Bordoni will wear during his trek is a bespoke blue suit with a matching overcoat to provide extra warmth. After all, at the summit the temperature will be well below zero. For the suit, a creation of his own brand, he chose a fabric from Scabal since they’ve been working together for years now.

His best friend Alexander Gilen (41) accompanied Bordoni the entire way. He as well went through the entire ordeal dressed in a three piece suit. “When Tommaso called me to tell me his crazy idea I immediately proposed I would accompany him” Alexander told us.

The pair have been best friends since 2017 and have since travelled to multiple countries. “This was our craziest adventure yet though, time to get home to our fiancées now!” they both concluded.
