Barbour Re-Loved Launches In Germany

A new circular fashion initiative finds new homes for vintage Barbour jackets.

Did you know that the most sustainable fashion solution is to wear clothing that already exists? Families have been passing down Barbour jackets through the generations for decades, repairing them and re-waxing them when necessary – but there are some jackets that are still in need of a new home and the Barbour Re-Loved initiative ensures that every wax jacket can provide as many years of service as possible.

This very special programme was first introduced in 2019 in the UK and encourages customers to return Barbour wax jackets that they no longer have a use for in exchange for a 50€ Barbour voucher. The jackets that have been returned are then upcycled or recycled to give them a new lease of life and sold on to be Re-Loved in a new home.

The collection process of Re-Loved jackets is now available in Germany as well. From 1st to 30th October 2021, customers can return their worn Barbour wax jackets at the Barbour Stores in Hamburg, Münster and Sylt in exchange for a 50 € voucher.

Worn in Barbour jackets are particularly characterful and will often have unique features that can date them to a particular decade. Some jackets that are handed in are very old and are they can be real collector’s items, whereas other jackets are like new and only require a small amount of servicing. Even jackets that can no longer be repaired are utilised within the programme, many ending up as bags or even shoes!

Re-Loved jackets that have been lovingly repaired and reworked are available for purchase at the Barbour Stores in Münster and Sylt as well as through Hirmer in Munich for a limited time only from 1st October 2021 onwards. There will be two versions available; recycled jackets are available at 129,00 € each and upcycled jackets for 229,00 € each.
