ZENITH – DEFY EXTREME MIRROR

A previously unexplained horological phenomenon has entered our atmosphere. ZENITH presents an unprecedented and conceptual approach with a chronograph that measures time down to 1/100th of a second: the DEFY Extreme Mirror, with a mirrored camouflage design.

The model with the ultra-modern camouflage design reflects its surroundings in all colors, but has no color itself. It has an outstanding geometric shape, which has also been processed so that it fits seamlessly into its surroundings. The drive takes place at an almost astonishingly high frequency. The DEFY Extreme series not only draws inspiration from the elements, but is also designed to adapt to even extreme conditions. With the DEFY Extreme Mirror, the ZENITH manufacturer is taking its most robust chronograph to date on a new path and giving it an expression that merges reality and our perception of the surroundings.

The DEFY Extreme Mirror appears shrouded in mystery and is reminiscent of a kind of UFO that landed incognito on our planet. The earth, sky and the entire horizon are reflected without any distortion on its completely polished metal housing. Paradoxically, the DEFY Extreme Mirror is eye-catching and inconspicuous at the same time. It doesn’t even try to hide in its surroundings, but rather blends in seamlessly, reflecting everything on its shiny surface. The angular case and integrated bracelet are made of stainless steel and have been polished to a high shine for a chrome-like appearance.

And it’s not just the housing that’s mirrored. The open, multi-level dial has a central element made of sapphire crystal with a metallic mirrored surface that allows light to shine through but also reflects it. The 1/100-second chronograph scale is made of satin-finished metal elements that ensure easy readability while blending in with the visual theme.

The movement – the world’s fastest automatic high-frequency chronograph movement, capable of measuring 1/100th of a second – can be partially admired through the open dial and through the sapphire crystal case back. It has two independent escapements, one with a frequency of 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations per hour) for timekeeping and a second with a frequency of 50 Hz (360,000 vibrations per hour) for the chronograph. The star-shaped rotor of the DEFY Extreme Mirror is in a silvery-grey metal tone that matches the color of the case and dial.

The look of this fascinating watch is rounded off by the included rubber strap and a robust, black Velcro strap. Thanks to the quick-change system, the stainless steel bracelet can be easily and easily replaced with these additional bracelets.
