YAHYA – “Seasons Change Feelings Change” EP + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Hey what’s up my name is YAHYA I’m a Sudanese artist based out of New York. I moved here when I was very young and it was easy for me to navigate through this new place because of the music I already loved, so coming in here wasn’t that much of a shock — I already lived in these places I was seeing through these amazing songs and videos, The older I grew the more I began to express myself in the same ways I had seen others do my whole life and now I have found my own voice, healed my own wounds and grew so I’m ready to share my story.

2. Please give us an update about – a new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

The first single from my first album is coming in March alongside side some phenomenal visuals with Jay Wanetta, an amazing director who worked with the likes of Baby Keem and Lil Uzi and now me as of recently.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I’m very passionate and that will pour through in the music

Be ready to feel new emotions and ones that sometimes make you feel uncomfortable while listening I don’t hold back when exploring my own self in the music and it reflects in my voice words and delivery.

Don’t have any expectations outside of having an immaculate experience filled with a plethora of emotions when coming to listen to my art.

I love stripped-down instrumentation it allows me to find pockets I never thought I could within the music new ways to blend and bend words.

When I’m making a song I already have the visuals, performance, and crowd in mind I see it all while I create, the world the music exists in fuels me and I bring it to life.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

The only way I could really answer this question is this, my music is timeless and unorthodox there’s nothing specific to box in beside its ability to pull at your heartstrings.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

My songs are just a reflection of me the purest for of expression no walls, a lot of my works focus on the damage caused by being unconditional with yourself but also a lot on the healing and the strength That comes from situations as such, the lessons that healed all the wounds, and at times my art will focus on love the purity of it and the need to allow it to come in all forms even when it may not be in the way we think we would like it.

6. Besides music, do you have any special talents?

I do any and everything, from storyboard to my apparel, to finding venues to shows, running my promo campaigns, and I’m an all-around business doing what whole buildings do by myself and team, and  succeeding

7. Being on stage feels like….!

A thrill, I’ve only done one house show, my first official headline will be in the SULTAN ROOM in Brooklyn on April 24! Preforming live alongside Stump the band! It’s going to be a historical night make you don’t miss it

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I learned through natural progression, it began as me just talking into the microphone and speaking my mind then my expression grew to carry the emotions I would bear in my words, and the more and more I did it , I became more confident in myself and getting comfortable with how commanding my own voice is and finding where it fits best it took time but it’s a beautiful process, to say the least, it gives creation new life .

9. A question you’d like to answer, but have never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Why do you do what you do?

To inspire every person to face themselves, face what they run from. Hopes in of finding themselves again. I did it and I Know anyone can do it I wish to help show that the fire from within is the only one needed to make you great nothing from the outside holds power over any of us.
