VÖK on Tour + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers  – what kind of drink would you recommend sipping on while they listen to your new music?

A warm cup of coffee made with lots of love.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

Yes! So we released our self-titled album Vök in September 2022 and we’re going on a small-ish tour in March. We’re gonna go to Warsaw, Berlin, Copenhagen, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Utrecht, Manchester, and London! There are still some tickets left ! It’s gonna be so much fun playing in Europe again, it feels too long!

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!

We are very goofy people, Similar personalities, we drink a lot of coffee, We mostly wear thrifted clothes, Writing lyrics is hard for us !

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

All the thrift shops in the world!

5. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish  were true? (For example, dinosaurs living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

It would be quite exciting if the “Huldufólk” or the hidden people were real. They are supernatural beings that live in Icelandic nature. They have been a big part of Icelandic folklore stories for a long time.

6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I’m always curious how the industry would be if we didn’t have Spotify and all these streaming services. I know it was like that before , but I find the industry a bit weird and incohesive so I’m excited for further developments on these streaming platforms and how us as listeners can get closer to the artists.

7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Margrét: Wow, that’s a big question! I’ll tell you about our last album where  I went through the whole spectrum of emotions. We wrote it on covid times so there was a lot of time to go inwards and sit with all kinds of old emotions. I went back to my teenage self when I’m coming out of the closet and wrote a couple of songs from that time, damn it’s hard to be a teenager haha!

It’s also about losing a loved one which can be very very hard on the spirit but great to use those feelings to create. “No coffee at the funeral” and “Something bad” are a raw example of that.

It’s also about being human like being in love , losing a friend, feeling wonderful and feeling bad. All the Spectrum !

8. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer  please

If you could learn one skill instantly, what would it be? To become a great poet then it would be so much easier to write those lyrics!
