1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!
Thank you so much for having me! My name is Jackie Thoby and i’m a 23 year old danish DJ & producer who goes under the artist name „Thoby“
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
So i have a brand new single called „I Wanna Know You“ out on Kontor Records and it’s going very well! I love working with the Kontor family, they are so great ! Besides that, i’m spending alot of time finishing alot of new music for 2022 and i can already say that some huge releases are on the way Regarding shows, I have a show coming up at a danish venue called „Rust“, I will host a show called „Thoby & Friends“ which is a show where i’m inviting 4 other artists to come play, we will play for 1 hour each so the show is 5 hours it’s so nice to have the opportunity to invites some friends of mine and play a show and just do what we all love.
3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
- I’ve started my career playing pubs and small bars
- I have a little bit of stage fright
- I grew up listening to alot of 80’s & 90’s music because of my mom and that’s why i always include some of it in my sets
- I love to work with other artists and get an insight in how they work
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
That’s a tough question haha. I think i will use Coca-Cola because i think the music i do now is something for everyone.
5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!
It wasn’t until last year (2020) where my songs began to have a topic or a meaning. Until 2020 i was doing Big Room and the songs i made was only sounds a big drops but no vocals when corona hit in 2020 and closed the world i suddenly had so much time to go work on a more mainstream sound. Now every song i make has a meaning or a lyric that people can kinda relate to, like my song „I’ll Be There“ It’s about being there for someone you love no matter what. I love that my music is now something that people can sing along to but also listen to at home at make them think about stuff.
6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?
I don’t know if i would call it a talent but i actually sing a little bit singing was / is a dream of mine and i’m thinking about doing like Calvin Harris and sing on one of my own songs sometime.
7. Being on stage feels like….!
Being on stage is the best feeling i know, the feeling when i’m looking out over the crowd is something i can’t describe. The feeling is always different no matter how many times i go on stage. It feels like it’s where i belong and i feel like home.
8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??
Youtube tutorial videos helped me begin and helped me getting better at my craft and besides that i have alot of talented friends who helped me with tips & tricks.
