Thilo – „Intro:w“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

I’m Thilo from Berlin, I do Contemporary R&B/Soul and love to tell stories about my life and the struggles of a generation. I grew up singing at a local gospel choir, which made me come in touch with soul music really early. I listened to RnB of the 90s/00s and always sang along as soon as I could talk (my Mom always tells me). I love soaking up the different energies around people and places. Everything fueling the creative cup in a way!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My debut EP INTRO:W has just dropped. It’s been a year of work, sweat, pain but also fun and love. The process has been a lot and I’m so happy it’s finally out of my hands for everyone to dive into. „INTRO:W“ is a symbiosis of both „INTROspective“ and „gROW“ as well as a new kind of  „INTROduction“ of my artistry with my very first EP.

Due to Covid, I was forced to take more time dealing with myself and reflecting. So this EP came kind of natural as a result of this. I think these songs resonate with many of my generation, looking to find answers in a conflicting world. A generation overwhelmed, which actually has so much, but still lacks something that can’t quite be described.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

⁃I always seek to be vulnerable and genuine, as that’s when I can speak most clearly and authentic through music

⁃I love visual aesthetic and when it speaks loudly.

⁃I tend to have melodies before lyrics.

⁃Melancholy and sometimes a little dramatic lol

⁃I want my music to sound Poppy, but still special and kind of alternative. In between somewhere.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

uff. That’s a tough one… but i would say Urban Outfitters and Second Hand /Vintage

5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?

I do often smoke when I start drinking, which is dumbest thing to do, especially being a singer – so yeah, still trying to give that up completely.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I do like to design digitally. Not professional, but trying to use the mind, abstract forms, geometry and colors to create something for myself.

I would say I’m a good cook also, but you gotta ask my roommates for a more accurate feedback.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Horrible in the first 20 seconds. You heart makes your whole body pulse and it’s so hard to get in sync with your soul and art. But then it drops after a while and pure joy and adrenaline kicks in. So awesome when you can feel that the audience is also feeling what you sing about. Receiving back their energy is so inspiring!

8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?

I love oversized fits, vintage-washed out shirts. I got a few cream colored tracksuits. I have a fable for grey sweaters – too many haha.

There are no NoGos in general I would say… I just go with what feels good.

My favorite fragrance is actually from Zara and costs like 15 bucks. i do get complimented on it a lot 🙂

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

I think it would be: Who would i wanna collaborate with/ or be featured on a track with?  To me it would totally be H.E.R or Frank Ocean. They are geniuses of their time and having the opportunity to create art together would change my life! I think there’s so much to learn from the way the compose musically and write lyrically!
