ZENITH and the legendary Japanese bag brand PORTER have joined forces in a partnership around the theme of travel. Together they have developed two ZENITH PILOT models in khaki ceramic that come with a case designed exclusively by PORTER for ZENITH: the PILOT Automatic and the PILOT Big Date Flyback Chronograph, each released in an edition of 500 pieces.
The ZENITH PILOT collection is the brand’s oldest, still current collection and has had a decisive influence on the world of pilot watches. PORTER, a brand founded in 1962 by Japanese manufacturer Yoshida & Co., has made a name for itself both at home in Japan and in many other countries around the world.
The first model in this limited series is the PILOT Automatic PORTER Edition. The 40mm case with the signature flat round bezel is crafted exclusively from khaki ceramic, whose olive green hue is reminiscent of the signature colors of PORTER bags. The high-frequency El Primero 3620 manufacturing movement can be seen through the stainless steel back with black PVD coating and special sapphire crystal with embossed PORTER logo. The 60-hour power reserve is provided by a blackened oscillating weight. Their design is a nod to the “artificial horizon” on the dashboard, which informs the pilot of the aircraft’s orientation in relation to the Earth’s horizon.
The second model in the partnership is the PILOT Big Date Flyback PORTER Edition. The matte khaki 42.5mm ceramic case has the same aesthetic as the three-hand watch and features pushers and a black PVD coated crown. The latest generation of the El Primero 3652 high-frequency automatic chronograph movement, developed in this version exclusively for the PILOT model, offers two functions that are highly valued by pilots: the big date and the flyback function.
The PILOT Automatic PORTER Edition and the PILOT Big Date Flyback PORTER Edition are each limited to 500 pieces and available exclusively in ZENITH boutiques and online shops worldwide.
