Sparkee – „Feel Alive“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

My pleasure. I would recommend they sip on a mezcal margarita because it sets the mood for my latest music: fun, citrusy, funky, and summery. In fact, I think I’ll go make one myself after this!

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I just released my latest single titled Feel Alive. It is the first single off of a new EP I’m working on called Snack Pack which comes out in the Fall of 2022. I am releasing the tracks one by one over the summer and all of the artwork is based off of retro snack brands hence the name. It’s a pretty fun concept so far and I’m so happy that I finally get to share it with the world.

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

Haha, yes there certainly are a lot of crazy conspiracy theories out there. One that has always fascinated me since I was a kid is the notion that aliens have been regularly visiting us here on earth. I am convinced we are in possession of alien spacecraft and I don’t care how crazy that makes me sound!

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

The fashion style that best describes my music would be on-trend and approachable. Not flashy but stylish, fun, and carefree. You can typically find me shopping at stores like H&M, Zara, or Urban Outfitters which I think go well with my music.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Most of my songs are written with friends and I have very little to do with the lyrics most times. The vibe I typically try to establish is catchy, feel-good music and I let the songwriters react to that energy. The lyrics to my latest track were written by my good friend Josh. It’s about when you meet someone new for the first time and all of the excitement that comes with that; they make you „Feel Alive“. In general, I try to focus on positivity in my life and I hope that comes through in my music.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I am a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have been training for about 15 years!

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1) I love a funky bassline! I always make sure I have some seriously groovy bassline action going on in my songs. I think I am somewhat known for it now after creating the „technically impossible“ bassline in a viral Deadmau5 remix I created back in 2017. Deadmau5 reacted to it saying it was impossible to play and then a notable YouTuber known as Davie504 made a video of him playing it that went viral.

2) I won the remix contest for Tiësto’s song „The Business“ and my remix was released on Atlantic Records/Musical Freedom in May 2021. This was easily the biggest moment of my career to-date.

3) I often put over-the-top guitar solos in my tracks. It’s become a bit of a meme with some of my close fans.

4) I have a sample pack out right now on Splice where you can use my guitar parts in our own tracks royalty free if you’re a producer.

5) I love blending different genres together. I always mix different musical tropes from contrasting styles. For example, I might add a classical element in a funk song or add a rock n roll drum fill. My long term dream is to be a producer who works with all genres – everything from metal, to pop, and whatever else is in between.

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I started my musical journey at a young age. I dabbled with both piano and saxophone for about a year each but once I got my hands on a guitar it was game over. I was hooked! I’ve now been playing guitar for about 19 years I believe. I’ve always loved all styles of music but when I was a teenager I got really into heavy metal and the whole shred guitar scene. I’d always been into funky music and when I started producing, I kind of doubled down in that direction. I’m really influenced by groups like Daft Punk & Chromeo. Those two would best describe my current musical style.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

„Why do you make music?“ This one is tough to answer. There is a force inside of me that drives me to make it. There is no real reason that I can figure out but the best way I can explain it is that I need to make music just like I need to breathe. Ultimately, it makes me „Feel Alive“.
