Scott Quinn – debut EP ‚BETTER FOR ME‘ + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Hey, I’m Scott Quinn and I’m a Yorkshire born – London based Artist/Songwriter living in Hackney.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I just released my debut EP ‘BETTER FOR ME’ which I’m stoked about, and you can all listen to it now via all the usual platforms. There’s a tearjerker of a tune called ‘Holding on to Letting Go’ on there that I think people will find helpful if they’ve been going through a break up recently…

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1. I recently went viral on Tik Tok with my song ‘Holding on to Letting Go’, but don’t be under any illusion that I understand the platform. It’s got a mind of its own and not having a clue about how it works makes me feel very old .

2. I’ve written songs for BTS, Zara Larsson, Keith Urban and Mista Jam

3. I can sing all the key changes in ‘Love on Top’ by Beyonce

4. I’m 6ft 2

5. I’m Vegan…

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

My whole personal style and aesthetic is very scandi and minimal. Lots of plants, white space and Aeropress coffee. I feel like my music sits in that same world.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

A lot of my music is an observation of the human condition. I love taking small moments or niche emotions and turning them into much bigger songs.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I hate to admit it…but I’m really good at puns.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Being on stage is wild. A whole hour can go by in a blink of an eye and feeding off the energy of a large crowd is exhilarating. Also watching people react and connect with your songs in real-time is really emotional. I’ve seen grown men break down in tears during one of my sadder songs and then watch as they’re comforted by strangers in the crowd. That stuff is powerful, I’m so excited to gig again when covid restrictions live

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

Music is all I’ve ever known to be honest, and the older I get the more I realise how fortunate I am to have always known what I’ve wanted to do with my life. My parents played music around the house all the time when we were kids and always had blind faith in my choice to pursue music as a career. That kind of support is priceless.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

What advice would you give someone that’s wanting to have a career in music?

A: I always encourage people to check in with their ego. This industry becomes soooo much easier to navigate when you don’t take everything personally. I’m super interested in psychology and mental health, and having done a bunch of therapy and been really inquisitive about my mind, I’ve managed to avoid being ground down by the daily industry kick backs etc.
