Sadye – „Pretty Traumatized“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

AM: Lemon water obvi. PM: Lemon water or champagne beb

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I recently put out a new record called Pretty Traumatized. It’s the most personal song I’ve released to date. It touches on all my medical trauma. I tried to transform the horror into a kind of twisted fantasy.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

It would be so beautiful if Kurt Cobain was still alive. His music and songwriting shaped so much. He’s influenced me a lot as a writer.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I would describe my music as high fashion camp. I love hunting for nostalgic sounds that haven’t been revisited much, and combining different eras of pop and electronic, and delivering wild lyrics anyone can

swallow because they’re funny.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I’ve been calling Pretty Traumatized my origin story. The song starts with me waking up because I feel like when I moved to LA, in a lot of ways, that was when my life started again after a lot of awful things I went through. I felt like I had a chance to really live again. I think people will relate to it because we’re all experiencing the horror and beauty of life all the time.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

My special talents are my art. I don’t have anything else. I’ve never had some other hobby I loved. Music keeps me alive. Writing keeps my alive. Creating is something I have to feed in me or I get really depressed.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1. I always write from a personal place and not from random concepts.

2. I’d rather write a bad, outrageous song than a good, boring song

3. I’m a Scorpio/Sagittarius Cusp and that makes all my music make sense

4. I feel like making music is more channelling than output so in that way I usually have no idea what’s next for me creatively

5. I’m private and sensitive, so 4 was enough fun facts.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I was in and out of music lessons throughout childhood—voice, piano, guitar. I always had a creative drive but it was hard for me to study and focus. I wrote poetry and short stories, so songwriting happened in my teens when I picked up a guitar and suddenly had a way to accompany myself.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Maybe what’s missing in my life? I have my music, I’m in love, I’m living, but I have a hole in my heart the size of a tiny dog and I think about her every day.
