RODNEY CHROME – „TO THE MONEY“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I would love for readers to have a frozen mango margarita while they listen to my new EP Ghetto Popstar Vol. 1.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I just released my new project Ghetto Popstar Vol.1 which is a 2 song EP that is also accompanied with my new music video “To The Money.” I have some really excited performances coming up such as Youth Pride, My own headline show, as well as performing at this years AFROPUNK festival within Brooklyn New York.

3. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I would honestly say Mugler. Whenever I listen to my songs I think of a
brand with the most expensive taste but also one that isn’t afraid to take a risk. Thierry Mugler’s vision behind the brand is one that many designers cannot replicate. It’s both timeless and futuristic which is exactly how envision the sound of my music.

4. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

My EP Ghetto Popstar Vol.1 is a composed of two songs “To The Money” and “Famous.” It narrates the story of how Rodney Chrome is a DIY artist making his dreams happen through the world of music at whatever cost. Accompanied with the EP was a music video for “To The Money.” This video was inspired by creating a reality that all the money Rodney Chrome could ever want is at his fingertips. Instead of splurging on materialistic features I wanted to create financial freedom for small businesses that are constantly in support of Rodney Chrome. And in the end you see a table of executives signing off on Rodney Chrome being the biggest rising “Ghetto Popstar.”

5.Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I grew up as a competitive dancer traveling all across the U.S. and competing against some of the most elite dancers during middle school and high school. I knew I didn’t want to only be a dancer as my career began to progress but I still incorporate my dancing ability within my music.

6. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

  1. The gays are gonna hate me for this but I secretly love Chick Fil-A (shhhh don’t tell anyone)
  2. I grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas
  3. I am a Sagittarius (The best sign in my opinion)
  1. That’s So Raven was my favorite show growing up
  2. And I think I secretly have a fear of planes but I’m not ready to come to terms with it yet lol

7. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I used to listen to James Fauntleroy, an impeccable grammy winning songwriter, and eventually after listening and studying his style of writing I began to develop a passion and ability for writing lyrics for myself.

8. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls If I could bring one celebrity back to life who would it be?

I’m gonna say Prince. I feel as thought he just exudes such bad b*** energy and he would have been an amazing mentor to have while I navigate my way through the music industry.
