Rochee – “T.F.” + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

A nice Barolo.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I just got the masters back for my album and I’m planning on a March release. Got a couple remixes and features coming out before then though. Keeping busy!

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I love the theory that Tupac and Biggie were really friends and they both faked their death and just ran away together to some island somewhere to enjoy their money and friendship. Doesn’t that sound nice?

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Somewhere between Heron Preston and Alyx. Like I’m not full on Givenchy (pop) but I’m my own interesting lane.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Before now I just wanted to make music you can get high and f**k to haha. Now I like the idea of story time. Mostly ones the listener can relate to. I’ll write a sad song but it’s not that I’m necessarily sad now. More a story I heard or a story from my past that I think might be a story someone needs to hear. Still making “get high and have sex” songs every once in a while though.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I honestly love video editing. It’s just cutting moving images to a beat so it’s kinda like visual beat making. I edit all the videos I have and edit for friends just for fun. I kinda want to dive more into that this year.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I won’t bore you.

I love collaborating.

I love everything from Tchaikovsky to Dua Lipa to Russian Circles to JID, and I love testing that love in the sounds I play around with.

I, and I say this with humility and no cockiness, am f’n amazing live.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I’m from a family of singers (both of my brothers sing infinitely better than me) and my dad played guitar. Music has literally always been there. I started writing because when I was 13 I watched my dad perform a song he’d written. I wanted to be able to affect people with songs the way he did so, since I was already into poetry, I just started writing songs.

Diving into learning production was a pandemic “hobby”. I always wrote lyrics and loosely played guitar but the lack of human interaction and studio sessions caused me to “jump behind the boards”. I put myself through “YouTube university” and asked producer friends questions. Still learning. Still having fun.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Are you a good cook?

I make some killer pancakes.
