Can you give us more insight into your new single and future plans musically speaking?
“Concrete Heart” is a very personal song and was my third single in 2022, after being abstinent for quite a very long time.
As for my future plans, I am currently working on new songs and there are already plans for this year.
I’m more than ready to hit the road and play live shows! I’m so excited to finally get out of the studio and perform for all of my fans in 2023.
That’s why I’ve decided to release my music as a series of singles at this point. This way, I can continue to share my music and connect with my fans on a regular basis.
I’m also planning on collaborating with other artists and experimenting with different sounds to continue growing and evolving as a musician.
I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me and I’m eager to keep sharing my music with the world.
We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which harmless theory would you wish to be true?
I’d love for the conspiracy theory that states that unicorns are just shy and only reveal themselves to those with pure hearts to be true. I just love the simple thought of it! Can you imagine walking through the forest and suddenly encountering a majestic, shimmering unicorn? Something that might sound quite normal on a friday night walking through Berlin.
On a serious note, who wouldn’t want to add a little magic and wonder to their day-to-day life?
What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
I would say a mix of All Saints, Nike and Strellson
What is the message of your latest track “Concrete Heart”?
My latest track „Concrete Heart“ is about a toxic relationship from my past and the realisation that came with it. The song reflects on the emotional journey I went through after a painful break-up and the anger and confusion I felt about allowing myself to be in that situation. The theme of the song is about the power dynamics in relationships and how those closest to us can also be the ones who hurt us the most.
The message of the song is one of hope and strength, as I want people to know that they are not alone in their experiences. The first sentence of the chorus, „I hate the way you build me up to knock me down,“ summarises the central message of the song and speaks to the complex and often hurtful dynamics that can occur in relationships. I hope that „Concrete Heart“ can provide comfort and inspiration to anyone who has gone through a similar experience.
Besides making music, do you have any special talents?
My friends are telling me that my speaking imitation of retired national coach Jogi Löw is spot on, but let’s just say that he probably won’t be hiring me as his personal impersonator anytime soon. And as for my Australian accent, well, I thought I was pretty good at it. Until a real Aussie walked into the room, and I sounded more like a kangaroo with a speech impediment. Safe to say, I’ll be sticking to my German accent from now on!
Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?
All of my songs are like little snapshots of my life, complete with all the ups, downs, and in-betweens. Basically, I’m an open book with a melody.
If you ever see me walking down the street, chances are I’m either humming a tune or singing it out loud (sorry, not sorry).
My primary instruments are guitar and piano, and you’ll often see me performing with one of these instruments on stage. These two instruments are also my go-to for songwriting and where most of my musical creations begin.
I can’t resist the urge to play a piano when I see one. Hotels, please let your grand pianos be played! It’s a shame to see such beauty go unused.
I’ve written songs that have been streamed over 3 billion times and yet, I still can’t get over my surprise every time I hear one on the radio.
How did you learn how to sing, write & play music?
I learned to sing, write, and play music through a combination of listening to my musical influences and studying the songwriting and musical styles that I admire. My journey began with a deep appreciation for Ed Sheeran’s music and a desire to sing like him. I would spend hours listening to his songs and trying to imitate his style and technique.
In addition to singing, I also focused on analysing the structure and composition of songs that I enjoyed. I would study the lyrics and melodies, trying to understand how the elements came together to create a cohesive and memorable piece of music. I then attempted to apply what I had learned to my own songwriting, creating my own songs and experimenting with different styles and techniques.
It was a long and challenging process, and trust me, you really wouldn´t enjoy to listen to the very first songs I wrote. But I continued to practice and improve, working towards the goal of becoming a better musician every day. I believe in the idea of the „10,000 Hour Rule,“ which states that it takes 10,000 hours of deliberate practice to become an expert in a particular field. With that in mind, I focused on putting in the time and effort to improve my craft.
What is a question you’d like to answer, but you have never been asked in an interview before?
I think I have never been asked what song I would sing in a karaoke bar.
Super easy choice to be fair. When it comes to karaoke, I’ve got two power ballads in my back pocket that never fail to get the crowd pumped up. „I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing“ Aerosmith and „Wonderwall“ by Oasis are my go-to jams that I switch between depending on my mood and the beer level.
