PSiMiTAR – ‘Better Believe It’ + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

Hi, we are PSiMiTAR! We are a duo from near Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK, and we are made up of Steesh, producer and rapper, and LKP, vocalist and DJ. We make our own take on hip hop and soul music!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

Our current single is Better Believe It, which has had some excellent support across BBC Introducing, Westside FM and a load more DJs supporting on Twitch and in real life now we are all allowed out again. We have some live gigs booked for 2022, ad we are working on new material all the time. Better Believe It is our 8th single, we have always got new tracks on the go.

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as a band?!

Under our previous band identities, we have played at Radio 1 Big Weekend and T In The Park among a load of other dope festivals.

Steesh is a Middlesbrough fan and I (LKP) am a Newcastle United fan.

LKP has had songs he wrote featured on CBBC and Comedy Central!

Steesh is a multi instrumentalist and he loves playing the Talkbox on our tunes.

The Butler who appears in the Best Life video is LKP’s Dad.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

LKP – I am always wearing a lot of Dark Circle clothing, its a friend’s brand who has supported me from way back in the day, so I try to do the same with his stuff. I think it says a lot about us, integrity, loyalty and something you don’t see every day. We both have our own individual styles, I think the last couple sets of press shots have been almost an anomally as I am not in a cap!

5. What’s your songwriting process?

Steesh is making beats and coming up with ideas all of the time, he does the lions share, but we try to get in the studio pretty regularly to bounce ideas. We have come up with our best stuff that way. It is definitely more fun when we do it as a collaboration, and we often get ideas for other new tracks while working on something totally different.

6. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?

I would put an end to the idea of massive brands asking independent artists to ‘work for exposure.’ It’s a totally unhealthy practice.

7. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

We write about stuff that has affected us over the years, and we always try to write with some humour and positivity. The world is a dark enough place already without us adding to it!

8.  A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?!

What does the PSiMiTAR stage show look like?

+ Answer pls

We have our first official PSiMiTAR gig booked in at the start of 2022, and we have a full band lined up and lots of purples and pinks to tie in with our logo and artwork. It will sound dope, lots of live instruments and some surprises planned too.
