Montblanc and its Mark Maker Zinédine Zidane have come together to develop a new capsule collection of travel essentials crafted from leather and distinctly lightweight fabric. Working together in close and active collaboration, Zidane and Montblanc Artistic Director Marco Tomasetta have created a set of five functional and elegant pieces in black and a green-hued pewter color, suited to the lifestyle needs of world travellers.
“Collaborating on this collection with Montblanc and such a creative spirit and visionary as Marco was a great personal journey for me, full of joy and enthusiasm. It was fascinating to be part of every step of the process from creating the designs to production, and even testing the products. This brand new experience gave me real insight into Montblanc. It resulted in a collection that truly fits my travel style and hopefully that of many other frequent travellers. I hope people will enjoy it,” says Zinédine Zidane.
Following a series of design meetings and based on lots of insights and practical inputs from the legend, the pieces were perfectly tailored for Zidane’s dynamic lifestyle blending functionality, contemporary design, and lightweight construction. A pentagon leather label detail referencing soccer ball panels is a wink to Zidane’s contributions to the world of soccer over the years.
Beyond his legacy on the field as a legendary player and a leading coach, Zidane became a Montblanc Mark Maker and the face of the Montblanc Legend Fragrance line for his contributions off the field and the values he stands for and embodies as an admired leader, a philanthropist and an influential cultural icon.
The collection comprises of a distinctive Duffle Bag that blends the recognizable brand codes of Montblanc leather collections: the Extreme 3.0 pattern and the Montblanc M LOCK 4810 buckle with its special mechanism that acts quickly and effectively for a complete and safe closure. In addition, a black and pewter-colored #MY4810 Cabin Trolley features a luggage strap with the Montblanc M LOCK 4810 buckle. It is matched with a leather Passport Holder in pewter color. A Sling Bag designed to carry smaller personal items cross-body and a Washbag for essential amenities are both made from an especially lightweight fabric enhanced with the Extreme 3.0 pattern and black leather finishes. “Zinédine had a clear vision of what he wanted this collection to deliver and was intimately involved in all aspects of its creation: together, we worked long hours and went through many rounds of designs and fittings to come up with a selection that is suited to his fast-paced and multi-faceted lifestyle where travel plays a central role. It was a lot of fun to share all these ideas on materials and design in our meetings. I had a very demanding and detail-oriented design partner! The collection reflects style attributes that are both personal and comfortable to him, while also spotlighting the signature design codes of Montblanc,” explains Marco Tomasetta, Montblanc Artistic Director.
