MKSM – „Shared Room“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

That’s an easy one – ALWAYS Aperol Spritz 🙂 SHARED ROOM is a light hearted, uplifting and fresh gay love song – so it can only be Aperol 🙂

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

About a week ago I released my new single SHARED ROOM. This song is really special to me because it is, on the one hand autobiographical, the first single of my second EP, and on the other hand the first song where I sing about about a BOY… I needed to take my time to take this step and I’m really PROUD to finally get there. That’s why it feels right to publicly introduce my real partner in the video – that felt the most natural to me!

I love the mix of my soft vocals and the groovy and warm arrangement, and of course it had to have a little hook from my violin!  But in this case we also played with some effects so that the song sounds really exciting and fresh.

And yes – my pride tour just started. I already played a few smaller prides and there are many many more to come. I’ll be playing in Cologne, Bielefeld, Berlin, Munich, two dates in the UK and many more – just check out the dates on my homepage: www.mksm-music.com

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I am really not into any kinds of conspiracy theories – but let me put it this way: I’d like to believe that soon there won’t be any kind of discrimination!

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Never thought about it but maybe ASOS – they are very inclusive, sometimes different and sometimes super comfortable and cozy.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

It’s important to me to address important LGBTIQ* topics like acceptance, self love but also the struggles that our community and I – as a part of the community – have to face. The songs of my second EP aren’t fictional – those are stories that happened to me or topics that move me – and hopefully will move my listeners.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Not really sure about that – but I think that I am quite good in languages and I also used to draw a lot – but not doing it that often anymore.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

The first word I thought of was FREEDOM!

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I started taking violin lessons when I was 7 years old and my first choir experiences I also had around that time. I continued playing the violin, joined youth orchestras, started taking voice lessons. And then I studied Singing, Songwriting and Violin at the University of Music and Arts in Frankfurt (Main).

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

That’s a good one. Let’s see – what about:

What’s your advice for your younger self?

Take the time you need, calm down, don’t let anyone tell you that you CAN’T do it. Listen to advice but also listen to your own feelings! And the most important thing: YOU’RE GOOD ENOUGH!
