Miu Haiti – „Is This Love“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip on while they listen to your new music?

I think the perfect drink that goes along with „Is This Love“ would be an Amaretto sour. It’s sweet, it’s sour – it’s perfect!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My new single, „Is This Love,“ is freshly released along with a very well suited music video. This song is inspired by my personal experience. I have been in a few situations where I had to ask myself this question. Canadian Artistic Director Ralph Leroy conceptualized the music video, and his vision was carried out by videographer Ryan J. Ardito. The music video was filmed in Purfek TV’s studio, and video director Storm provided the final touch.

I’m very excited for everyone to experience my upcoming EP as a whole. I felt very free when I was creating this project, and I can only hope that all the emotions translate to the listeners. As for tour dates, my team and I are still working on my calendar. Stay in touch to find out more!

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I’m a big fan of the show Roswell. It depicts the possibility of aliens‘ presence on earth in a quite probable way. I  believe that aliens exist. Yes, I said it. But, if they do come in contact with humans, I hope we all get along well – good vibes only!

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Fashion-wise, I think of my music like: If Chanel and Versace had a baby.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

As I’m stepping back to look at the bigger picture, I think a lot of my music is anchored in the concept of freedom to make your own choices, be your own person, paint outside the lines, and be yourself no matter what they say. Music is how I process my feelings and emotions – my personal therapist. I deeply believe that my purpose is to create and share my music with the world. Hopefully that can help someone feel seen and understood.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Music is my main pursuit, but I dabble in a lot of things. I discovered that I’m good at set decor. I designed the set for my last music video, „In Em Face.“ I also hosted a hilarious cooking show, „Recipe Vs Reality,“ with my co-host Kim (Kimberly Kelmelis) for PurfekTV. I’m also a professional makeup artist and fashion stylist. I just wanna be surrounded by beauty at all times – that mindset helps me find beauty everywhere.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I’m creative, versatile, extremely passionate, I tend to obsess about details (I’m working on that), and I cherish my freedom to create how I see fit. Inspiration comes from the divine, and my goal is to honor it the best I can.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

It happened quite naturally. I was brought up by creative parents. My dad is a sax player, and my mom is a seamstress. My father used to host church choir rehearsals and songwriting sessions at home. He took me to his band’s rehearsals and recording sessions sometimes. In school, I was very into literature, drama class, dance and drawing. I think I always had the music in me. I was always humming some melody – got me in trouble sometimes. I sang at many school functions. As a teen, I became a petite model for a local fashion designer. It was my entryway to the show business. My friend who was an event promoter at that time convinced me to participate in a songwriting contest, and I did. I was in the last 10 finalist. We went on a national tour (Haiti), and I’ve been hooked since then.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

How would you describe your sound to those who may not be familiar with you?

I believe my sound to be contemporary, eclectic, and heartfelt, but I’m much more comfortable letting the public define what it sounds and feels like to them.
