Hi! My name is Matty Marz, I’m a performance artist from New York & pop music’s new innovator. let’s chat
2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
My new single „Pretty“ is out June 25th, it’s a song about the beauty of escapism & imagination. Certainly one of my favorite songs i’ve ever written (as well as one of my most personal). I’m also planning a very exciting visual for it, so stay tuned!
3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!
1) I write, produce & compose all of my own work
2) I plan to take over the world
3) I’m a classically trained vocalist, a dancer & art history enthusiast
4) I art direct & visualize all of my own visuals / aesthetics
5) I flow & change genres at the drop of a hat
4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?
I’ve thought about this question quite a lot through life, I’d have to say „ever evolving“.
Even though it’s not a brand per say, I like to think of myself as an all encompassed artist. Someone who flows through genres, creates persona’s & bend’s ideals with my work. It’s very important to me that everything I create is well thought out & well read. I study my references, perfecting my craft with each song.
5. Do you have bad habits? A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?
None of my pleasures are guilt driven, but I’d have to say my sweet tooth.
6. Besides music, do you have any special talents?
Hmm, maybe the ability to do funny voices or make a sick cocktail
7. Being on stage feels like….!
Being home, so much of what I do is driven by how I digest music & use my physicality to express myself. So being on stage, I align to be the full artist. I want to live my life on the stage.
8. Must Have – and No-Go in your Wardrobe! – Favorite Fashion Brand and Fragrance?
Must Haves are leather jackets, platform boots, corsets, diamonds & pearls
No Go’s are khakis, loafers & flip flops .. yuck
Favorite brands are Chanel, Versace & Mugler
