Los Angeles CFDA Eyewear Designers Create Rainbow Sunglasses

In celebration of Pride Month in June, CFDA Los Angeles eyewear designers Barton Perreira, Blake Kuwahara and l.a.Eyeworks unite to design limited edition sunglasses to benefit the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Barton Perreira revives beloved archive styles with vibrant, mirrored rainbow lenses, while Blake Kuwahara crafts a colorful rendition of his Chambers frame in custom-made acetate.

All sunglasses come with an exuberant rainbow print cleaning cloth made from recycled PET plastic bottles, a nod to the brands commitment to sustainability.

For its design, l.a.Eyeworks offers the chunky AMORTINI frame in custom rainbow and crystal acetate with blue topaz sun lenses.

A percentage of the sales of these special sunglass styles will be donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center, a nonprofit organization that has been providing programs in health, social services and housing, culture and education, and leadership and advocacy for the LGBT community since 1969. The brands’ contributions will directly benefit the Senior Services programs of the Los Angeles LGBT Center (www.lalgbtcenter.org).

“We believe in diversity, equality and inclusivity at Barton Perreira. It’s an honor to collaborate with fellow CFDA eyewear designers to commemorate Pride and support the tremendous work of the Center,” says Patty Perreira, Co-Founder and Designer of Barton Perreira.

“Last year, I posted a rendering of the CHAMBERS in rainbow in honor of Pride Month. It received such a positive response, that we decided custom make the acetate and produce the frame. I think the timing couldn’t be more appropriate to celebrate not only our LGBTQ community, but also what we all hope will be the end of the pandemic,” says Blake Kuwahara. “This is such an important time to be emphatic in our recognition and support of the spectrum of identities that Pride celebrates.” notes l.a.Eyeworks co-founder/designer Gai Gherardi, “The ‘amor’ in the name of our dedicated frame, AMORTINI, echoes our oft-repeated encouragement to ‘Love One Another.’”
