Lindsey Stirling – „Snow Waltz“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

Chocolate milk

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

It a Christmas masterpiece! When writing the title track Snow Waltz I wanted to capture not only the magic of Christmas but also the spectacle of Halloween. The music video captured the vibe perfectly when a party of skeleton’s experiences Christmas for the first time.  Its comical, decedent, and a perfect meld of the holiday season capturing colors of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Joy to the world is one of my other favorite tracks from the album. It’s a Celtic party so I filmed it on the west coat of France because the first Celtic roots can be traced back to this region.

I LOVE touring so I put an obscene amount of thought, effort and blood sweat and tears into planning my show. We are in rehearsal already, but I’ve been planning this brand new show for months. The costumes are gorgeous (I know this because I styled it myself), on top of choreography we are adding trapeze and hoop into the show, and I hope people feel all the magic and joy that we feel on stage.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I just hope Avril Lavigne is really Avril. I love her so I hope she didn’t die 15 years ago.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Kawaii fashion

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I always hope to uplift with my art. I feel like my overall goal in this life is to be a light and I try my best to do that with my craft. It’s so natural to do that with a Christmas album because the original message of Christmas ties to the light of the world coming to give life to this dying earth. This message is present in so many Christmas traditions: stars on top of Christmas trees, twinkle lights in the darkness, messages of hope and love and fresh starts. This is why I love sharing Christmas music.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I consider myself a jack of all trades. I like to sew, and I style/design and even sometimes make my costumes and my dancers costumes. I concept, direct and edit all my own music videos.  I creative direct my shows. I have been taking trapeze and hoop lessons and it’s now something we’ve added to the show. Oh and I make a really great salmon quesadilla.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

  • I’m driven by creativity more than by music
  • Still get nervous to perform live
  • I didn’t start dancing til I was 23 so I’m living proof that it’s never too late.
  • I’m a big believer in the power of meditation and breath work.
  • To me, my music is not complete until there is a visual experience to pair the song with.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I begged my parents for violin lessons when I was 6. They couldn’t afford full lessons so my mom found a student who agreed to teach me 15 minute lessons once a week. I’ve played ever since.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

What is a life lesson you’ve learned that you wish everyone could know.

I wish everyone believed that our bodies and minds are forever moldable and trainable. So often people wish they could change certain things about themselves or their lives but they accept that this is just the way they are as if it would be insane to hope for anything different. But science proves that our minds have neuro plasticity until we die. Whether you want to be more patient, or have less anxiety or whether you want to take up ballroom dancing, it’s possible. Most people aren’t willing to put in the time mostly because they don’t believe the change is possible. But as a girl who was once severely anorexic and hated herself at 22…to now being a woman who loves herself and her body and started taking Trapeze lessons at 35- I promise that dramatic change is possible.
