Land Of Trees – ‘Giving You My Notice’ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I’m a strong believer in doing what feels right for you in the current mood and state of mind you’re in so I’d encourage anyone to make that decision in their own hearts but without trying to sound too pretentious about it I’d say any lovingly handcrafted beer or coffee would do the trick!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I have just recently released 2 singles and an entire 12 track album to various platforms. This time around we uped our game and recorded a few live sessions, we have tour dates in Sweden so far with the aim for Germany this fall and I’m writing scripts for music videos as a project for this summer as well.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I’ve always wished the conspiracy theory that 2Pac never actually died was true. He has been a major influence and inspiration to me as a songwriter and person so that might be a less funny one but it’s one I keep close to heart.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I grew up in the mountains of northern Sweden so the fashion style was always in someway connected to outdoorsy activities like snowboarding or hiking so my best options are brands like Fjällräven, Pinewood, Lundhags etc.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

From the very start I’ve tried to inject hope and encouragement in every form for listeners around the world. I’ve been around long enough to know you can’t reach anyone by just forcing a uplifting message upon them and hoping it help. You have to be honest and heartfelt, true to yourself and others and communicate everything in order to be real.

My songs are always anchored in real life events and usually they’re reflections of what I’ve been through somehow. Writing lyrics helps me make sense of this twisted world and what we might go through collectively and individually.

This most recent collection of songs provide my deepest frustrations mixed with the hope I still feel for what the world could be and become if we were open to learn and explore what we are yet to know and manifested our hopes and dreams instead of tripping on our own doubt

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I can spin a basketball on my finger well enough to land a sponsorship from Nike, impress my friends on a snowboard, film and edit videos at the speed of light and despite my lack of street cred I believe no one has ever beaten me in a freestyle rap battle, haha.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

  1. I write my lyrics in the heat of the moment, no backsies! Most of my songs are written in 5-15 minutes and most of the times, when they’re not, I toss them.
  2. I have no formal music education, I’ve learned by doing from the very start.
  3. My merch and logos is a result of my proudest doodles by pen and paper, everything is handmade.
  4. On that note, all the videos you find on our social media; documentaries, music videos, live sessions and poetic short reels, I have crafted myself. When I’m on camera it’s either me controlling it by remote or I/we receive help from the ever so wonderful Marie Wahlström of Studio Nooms.
  5. I mean it when I say thank you from stage, in messages and/or in person. It’s not just something I say, I truly understand why I appreciate your support and I’ve been though enough to not underestimate someones affirmation/appreciation.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

By doing. I guess my greatest help has been inspiration but I have never taken any classes or received help from a teacher or coach in any way. Curiosity has taught me everything I know and inspiration has kept me going.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?!

No one ever asks me how the f*ck I manage to pay for every album by myself, how I find hope in the ironically hopeless situation called the music industry and why I do what I do.

My answer is simpler than the question:

I don’t always manage and I do it because no matter how terrible it gets my love for music is stronger than my doubt.

But then again, non of that matters at the end of the day.

All that matters is what’s in our hearts, what we can create no matter the circumstances and that we know in our hearts that the worth in our craft is nothing but our love for it.
