1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

bourbon straight up.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

We are just putting the finishing touches on the album now! So you can expect lots more music soon. My partner Jeffrey Mitchell and I are visual artists at heart and have a deep love of filmmaking, so you can be sure we’ll be crafting lots of beautiful music videos to accompany the rest of the album! This is our first time producing and we have one rule- if the song doesn’t give you chills and/or make you want to dance sexy in a dive bar- we haven’t done our job. Tour dates TBA

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

Well my dad is pretty certain the mood landing was faked haha and he can go off about it for ages, especially after a couple glasses of wine. I would love for this to be true for him as it would be a great “told you so!” Moment!

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

A mix of Lustre Boutique here in Montreal and Jennie Vee in LA. Both these powerhouse women design everything themselves, they make clothing that fits women’s bodies beautifully and create stunning stage wear. Sexy, powerful, captivating , empowering ; ) Jennie Vee is also the bassist in Eagles of Death Metal and The Midnight Cowgirls (our new all woman rock/country band)! Be sure to give The Midnight Cowgirls a follow on instagram as we’ll be announcing some very exciting stuff soon!

5. Tell us more about your new single! Topics! Message!?

The song idea came to me one evening when playing on my nylon acoustic in my bedroom, playing with the idea of hope not always being a good thing. Our belief in a separate self has never been so exaggerated as it is now. Both our culture and upbringing provide the breeding ground for this epidemic of feeling deficient and unworthy. The dread and heartbreak one experiences as a result, leads us to search for a crutch. An antidepressant, a successful social media post, sex, alcohol, anything for the hit of dopamine that temporarily makes everything ok again, even if just for a moment. The arrangement instantly felt unique and timeless. We already had an ambitious vision of this song when we went into the studio and began tracking. Our friend Debra-Jean Creelman(Mother Mother) showed up with some truly haunting and unique harmonies, our pal Stu Rettalack showed up with his trumpet and the young virtuoso Yato Noukoussi laid down the drums like only he can. We were simply over the moon with the result!

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Believe it or not I used to be a contortionist haha but I’ve lost that talent sadly. These days, drawing creepy cartoons and rhyming!

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

  1. I’m in love with Beth Gibbons and seeing Portishead live as a teen made me want to be a singer.
  2. I find writing songs incredibly cathartic and have always used this medium to assist me in releasing trauma and pain
  3. I have an incurable chronic pain disease called endometriosis which is why pain is a common theme in my music.
  4. I start every song on a nylon acoustic guitar- an instrument that I don’t believe has actually made it into any of my 7 albums 😀
  5. I live for the studio and very large dogs

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

As a copy cat! I never took any lessons but I’ve been deeply in love with music as long as I can remember. I used to do silly impressions of Frank Sinatra and Peggy Lee. In highschool I got an older boy to show me some chords and classic rock songs. The rest just fell into place. I wrote angsty poems as a troubled teen and found it extremely satisfying to put them to music.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

“Can we give you a puppy?”

Answer – YES A MILLION TIMES YES
