KAMRAD – „I Believe“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

Thank you for having me. I guess you should definitely go for a light summer drink such as Aperol Spritz or a smooth gin & tonic with some lime. Any drink that makes you want to enjoy these first days of spring should be absolutely right.

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My new song “I Believe” came out in January and marked a restart for me as an artist: After a slight name change from Tim Kamrad to KAMRAD and a lot of work in the studio, I found myself again and really love what I’m doing right now. I’m extremely proud that my team and I managed to create such a positive vibe while talking about a personal topic like fear of commitment and I’m really happy that so many people seem to relate. I’m constantly in the studio right now working on new songs and new visual ideas. So, there is a lot of music waiting to be released and I’m so excited for everyone to hear what we are working on.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I play guitar, bass and a little bit of piano which helps me a lot when I’m producing my songs.

When I write songs, I start with “fantasy English” and try to turn it into real words afterwards.

My newest single “I Believe” blew up because of a random TikTok I uploaded last December.

I always take off my glasses on stage because I’m afraid I might break them. That’s why I can never read any signs or see any pictures that fans bring to my shows. This can get awkward, but now you know why I don’t react.

I’m the worst “drunk-musician” ever, so I never drink even a little bit of alcohol before going on stage.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I guess a colorful, relaxed fit short sleeve shirt is probably the best way to compare my music to a fashion piece. It definitely needs to be wide and should give you spring/summer vibes.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

When I write songs, I want to address personal topics, that me and a lot of young people are dealing with every day, such as problems in relationships or anxiety, and try to mix them with positive sounding melodies that give off good vibes. My idea is that this combination can make you feel better – even if it’s just a little bit – because you feel understood, but you can still dance to it.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Honestly, I don’t think I have a lot of exceptional talents beside music, which is probably why there has never been a real plan B for me. But – even if it sounds boring – I’ve always been quite good at math and loved dealing with numbers. I kind of loved the challenge of having to find a way to get to the right solution. But in the end, I guess, I chose the more interesting “talent” and I’m quite happy about that.

Being on stage feels like….!

…nothing else. It’s the craziest feeling in the world and I really can’t compare it to any other situation. You get such a strange combination of excitement and joy mixed with a little bit of stage fright that gives you the most absurd high when you get out and play the first chord. It’s kind of like jumping from a 30 feet cliff into ice cold water while falling in love.

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

My father has always been a passionate hobby musician and there were lots of guitars and other instruments lying around in our apartment ever since I was a baby. So, I got in touch with making music very early on and began learning to play the guitar when I was four years old. Being the impatient person that I am, at some point I started making up my own melodies and lyrics because I did not want to spend my time practicing. That way I started writing my own songs and never really got tired of it.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

What kind of guitar do you play on stage?

A 1974 Fender Telecaster Deluxe which belonged to my uncle. He gifted it to me some years ago and I love it. Sorry, I’m a nerd.
