JONA:S – „left“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

Thanks for having me. I’m JONA:S and I come from a small town near Hamburg.
I’m a german Pop-Artist and I take inspiration from modern Rap, R&B, and a lot of stuff that’s popular overseas.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I’ve just released my debut Single „left“ and I’m looking forward to releasing my first EP in July.

There will be a lot of content all about my journey as a musician and the songs I made up on my YouTube Channel, so you should definitely check it out!

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

First: I went to music school to study guitar, but quickly found out that I loved writing my own songs way more.

Second: I enjoy all types of music, but I love music that can be described as Pop-Music with its own little twist.

Third: I think that, even though I make all my beats by myself, writing and producing as a group of people is fun and shouldn’t be frowned upon so much.

Fourth: I love singers like Lauv who, in my opinion, have a lot of honesty in their voice and in the way of writing lyrics.

Last: The artists who I want to work with the most are Schmyt and Jon Bellion.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

My favorite brand is LowLightsStudios and I would describe my music as all of their highlight pieces. They’re all in line with the current trend, but they’re somehow different enough to stand out from the rest.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Since I wrote my first EP during the pandemic when nothing happened in my life besides uni and music, the songs are all about topics that are very close to my heart. They all talk about mental health in some way shape or form.

I think that mental health, especially in the last two years, has been a topic that more and more people talk about, which is great, because the more people start speaking about this topic, the more people will get heard and will be taken seriously.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I wouldn’t call it special, but I think that I’m a pretty decent cook.

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Coming back home. I feel like being up on stage is the place on earth where I can be my truest self.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I started playing the guitar at the age of 5. Singing and writing kind of happened naturally, but after a few years of learning to write and sing by myself I started to take lessons because I wanted to get better as fast as possible.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer plsWhat’s your take on the German music scene?

I think the stigma of German music being only gangster rap or Schlager music isn’t true anymore.

There are so many great artists with great messages and I encourage every artist (not only german artists) to write in their mother tounges because it somehow sounds way more honest than just writing your lyrics in English all the time.
