Jerome – „Forever Gold“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

Jerome: „Hey guys, thank you so much for your interest. Since a few years I have a fav drink – in Germany we call it „Skinny B*tch“, I’m not sure if it’s called similar in other countries 🙂 In short: It’s vodka with soda and half a piece of lime. It’s veeery fresh and you don’t have a headache the next day 😉 Pro-tip: Less calories than other drinks…”

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?

Jerome: „My latest track is called „Forever Gold“ and it’s out since the 1st of April. I love it, because it was very nice co-working with the Danish songwriters Lene & Peter who also worked with Jonas Blue, Sam Feldt and for example Gabry Ponte and me on our track „Lonely“ (released 2020), which was a great success with over 40M streams and gold awarded in Poland. It’s my typical Jerome style. I’m calling it „Modern Bounce“ because I’m combining slap house elements with Melbourne bounce off-beat-basses in a melodic way. I really look forward to playing it live this summer. In Germany the government re-opened the clubs and festivals, so in 2022, I will be on many festivals like the Parookaville, Sputnik Spring Break, SonneMondSterne and more open airs. I will play a massive set with all my greatest songs like „Light“, „Take My Hand“, „Lonely“, „You & Me“ and of course „Forever Gold“ ;-)”

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist!

Jerome: „Hm, not easy…1. my roots are German and Greek, 2. I’m playing 3 instruments (Piano, Guitar & E-Bass), 3. I have a 7y/o daughter, 4. my favorite series is „Modern Family“ and 5. I’m addicted to Nike sneakers :-)”

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Jerome: „I think the typical festival outfit describes my music. For the girls maybe flowers in the hair, nice shirt/top and hotpants. Guys should wear sunglasses and of course some trendy sneakers ;-)”

Tell us more about your songs! Topics and Message?

Jerome: „The message is clear: Love, love, love and happiness. In all these years being a DJ I always tried to take the crowd on a musical journey with me. Starting lovely and smooth and getting harder and more emotional with big chords & melodies. The end can be a big bang or piano version of one of my tracks – on a bigger stage I will play it live maybe.”

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

Jerome: „My musical ear is very sensitive – when I hear a song the first time, I can play it on the piano after 1 min. Another strange thing is that I never forget the tempo and the key of a song, even if it’s 20 years ago from my time being a HipHop DJ.”

Being on stage feels like…?

Jerome: „…the whole world. My father was also a musician – we made greek folk-music for many years. After that I had my own 80s/90s cover band before I discovered my talent for the DJing. I started with HipHop & RnB on real vinyls 😉 In 2009 I started with electronic music and THAT felt like I arrived. This feeling when the whole crowd puts their hands up, maybe closes their eyes in an emotional vocal break – that makes me cry to be honest. So standing on stage is like a drug to me.”

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play?

Jerome: „I told you my father was a musician, so he taught me most of it. I’m playing the piano since I am 6 years old. Writing melodies or a whole song can’t be learned I think. It’s in you, in your heart, in your soul – or not. Music is 100% feelings, so I think it’s less theory and more experience. When I write a song with a songwriter I always start with chords and an atmosphere, not the melody 😉 You can study music and maybe you know everything about harmonies – but it doesn’t help you to have a strong topline!”

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before and the answer to it?

Jerome: „If I had the chance to be reborn as an animal, I would be a penguin. These guys are sooo funny earthlings, very social and always wearing a suit ;-)”
