JANICK GOOTZ – „Puls“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music

Thank you for being here. Preferably your own favorite drink. I would probably drink a gin.

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

After a long time working on the sound for my first releases, there are enough songs for the whole coming year, and it’s getting more and more. In any case, there will be a new single every 6-8 weeks until next summer. First live performances are planned for 2023. An album is the big dream for 2024.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

At the moment, I’m wearing a lot of Nike and Carhartt. I feel that they fit the music. But I’m looking forward to developing myself and my music. I’m looking forward to developing myself and my music. Perhaps away from the classic brands. I used to live in Berlin for a year and really loved the style there. Maybe this style is also a good inspiration for my music.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Because I’m currently releasing single after single and not writing a concept album, my music is like one big mosaic. With every new song, I think about which part fits next. Each song should open up a small world. Some want to make you dance, while others want you to think. Over the past two years, breaking out of my familiar surroundings has been my main concern. With all the great new experiences but also the farewells that this entails.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I’m pretty good at imitating animals! In fact, it’s filmmaking. I spend a lot of time besides music making films and I’ve already had some successes. Our current short film „Nakam“ was co-produced by SWR and was officially qualified for the 95. Academy Award for Best Short Film.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

Lyrics and melodies are equally important to me

I have learned a lot about music production over the last few years and produce most of my demos by myself

When I’m in the creative tunnel, I forget everything around me for hours

Live should always sound a bit different than the studio productions

I am most happy when my songs become a good friend and companion for others

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I had guitar and piano lessons at an early age. Mostly I was supposed to play songs that didn’t interest me. Therefore, I listened a lot and taught myself. Only later I had my first singing lessons. Finding the right singing teacher is like finding a good therapist. In the meantime I have found the perfect teacher.

A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

I haven’t had enough interviews for that.
