Issermann – „Dans le vent“ + Exclusive Interview

Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I never thought of that one so I’m not sure haha. My favourite drink at the moment is an Amaretto Sour but I’m not sure if that is the logical pairing. Maybe a very good Japanese Whisky makes more sense, my go to is Nikka Coffey Malt.

Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

I have just released the first single of my upcoming EP. The single is called „Dans le Vent“ and is my first French track for this project, I usually release in English. I have been living 16 years in London in the UK but I’m originally from Paris. I was lucky to go play a festival in South Korea at the time of the release and I am in the middle of editing a sort of music tour video that should come out Friday 29th of September. I took a lot of footage while I was there and it should be a nice sort of visualiser type thing. The next single will come out on the 27th of October and the full EP on the 8th of December, I cannot wait !

We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

To this day, I refuse to believe it is possible to fold a fitted bed sheet properly. The one with the elastic you know, it never folds properly. I’ve tried many times, can’t be done. All those Youtube tutorial videos, CGI or deep fake. I’m not sure who benefits from this conspiracy but it must go all the way to the top.

What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

For a long time I had a sort of grungy rocky aesthetic that fit the music but recently changed into something a bit more mature in terms of styling. I guess it’s still fairly grungy/rocky but less adolescent. There is this brand called Mastermind that I think could fit pretty well. It’s a bit pricey but It has a nice simple grungy/fashion look that I think work well.

Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

A lot of my songs are quite dark and introspective. I usually write about my emotional and mental struggles so there isn’t often a message per se. It’s more an outlet to express those things and anyone listening can also find an outlet for those emotions within their own interpretation. That being said, one of my upcoming tracks on this EP is going off on those single use vapes. It’s so terrible the way it’s marketed to kids and how bad it is for the environment but that will be the focus single on the EP when it comes out in December.

Beside music, do you have any special talents?

A lot of my other skills are very geek related. I like to think I’m a pretty decent Dungeons and Dragons DM. For something a bit less nerdy I grew up as a child actor and so I guess I have some decent acting chops in me as well. I wish to reconnect with that at some point, who knows.

Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I am half French/half Brazilian living in London, UK

I sing/compose but I also produce and write music for other artists and sometimes sync.

Whenever I write I try to connect to some sort of emotional truth. For Issermann, I used to only think I’ve done that If I cry writing the lyrics but I’ve started to chill on that a bit, for the best.

Issermann is actually simply my family name.

My first band was a full on metal band, I was screaming, headbanging and everything. I keep that energy somewhere in the tracks underneath I think.

How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

A bit of piano as a kid but mostly in high school with my first bands. I started doing Sum41, Evanescence and Slipknot covers with a friend in his basement. This turned into a proper metal band,. After that, I went to study music in London. I learned production more with my second band which was an electronic music band with live drums. It was a lot of fun.

A question you’d like to answer, but have never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

„Why are croissants so expensive in London ?“

And the answer is „I don’t know actually, I don’t understand why they sell croissants for like £3.50 and most of the time they’re not that good. Croissant should be simple and cheap, made on the day. In Paris they will be around 1.60/1.90€ max. No need to be fancy, just make it good and cheap. It’s not something you buy for an occasion, it’s just a simple part of life. A coffee and a croissant shouldn’t be £7, you’re doing it wrong.“ French rant over.
