Hilding – „Girl“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

– I would definitely recommend a favorite of mine, Monkey 47 Gin, with ginger ale and a bit of orange peel.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

– Right now, except for hometown shows the big focus is on releases, I have at least 2 more songs and videos to come out this spring and early summer, which I am super excited about. A long form release is more to be expected in the summer.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

– I love the one stating that Dr. Dre started Burning Man, while scouting for filming locations for the California Love video!

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

– My music is a lot about taking what you have close by and making it work, so second hand clothes are a staple for me as well as a nice leather jacket or a trenchcoat, the only thing I do not get second hand is Jeans, which I prefer from Levi’s or All Saints.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

– My songs are meant to be about experiences and emotions that happen to regular people, but I try to make them as vivid and beautiful as possible, to remind listeners that what they might find mundane is important and real.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

– I am a mean chef, and I cook a top notch slice of pizza.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1. That I write, produced and performed this first record by myself.
2. I started out as a lead guitarist in the band Strand Child, where I also play lead guitar, and write songs.
3. I started playing guitar because a friend had a dream where he saw me on stage with one.
4. When I make music I take inspiration from almost every kind of music except rock music.
5. I came to Berlin, as a street musician and made my living as one, for most of my first year here.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

– I grew up in church, and as a teenager I was encouraged to sing, I eventually picked up the guitar which I learned by myself, copying licks off of records in my bedroom. I learned about about making beats and music production when I shared a room with a friend who was a gifted electronic musician. Songwriting I learned just by studying the songs I loved, and picking them apart, trying to understand what made them so great.

 9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

– Who would be your dream collaboration? – Young Thug
