Go Freek feat. Dope Earth Alien – „Turning It Up“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

Jalapeno Margarita!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

Have recently settled into a new studio which has been a game changer! Next single called ‘The Space’ Is ready, its a perfect follow up for ‘Turning It Up’ and very excited for everything else I’m working on. I think all the work I’ve ever put in is starting to pay off in my workflow and sound.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I’ve semi made this one up haha but what about ancient civilizations from thousands or maybe millions of years ago that possessed AI technology which went on advancing so much eventually ruling the earth, building supercomputers aka pyramids. Engineering their own bodies that look like extraterrestrial beings traveling out of this earth into other universes and even time traveling. As the earth gets hit with cataclysmic events and life slowly begins to evolve they silently observe us and keep watch as we repeat the cycle.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

‘Glam Rock’

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Really keen to get back to the Go Freek original ‘Gutter Tech’ sound, I’m hearing it across the board within other artists so I think the time has come to unleash the beast again.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I would have to say my green thumb, during covid I dove quite deep into learning about horticulture, nature and plants. I have a decent exotic plant collection mostly in the cacti species but it’s a super cool world I’ve fallen in love with and enjoy learning about. I think I was drawn to plants as it’s almost the perfect opposite to being in front of a computer blasting loud music.

7. Name 4 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1. Originality, I never copy or recreate somebody else’s work, it’s sometimes a double edged sword as that can help with writer’s block but It means I’m not pigeon holed too much as I don’t really have a sound or style I’m aiming for it just kinda comes to me when I get in the flow state.

2. I originally used art and making music as a coping mechanism, no matter what was happening in life I could always rely on music or art to take me to a happy and comfortable

place that filled my soul.

3. I’m all ‘In the box’ meaning i basically work entirely inside the computer or laptop, no musical instrument background just fell in love with the DAW ‘Ableton’ I guess that’s kinda playing an instrument (or a whole band in one)

4. I fell in love with dance music due to my first night out in Kings Cross (Sydney) as a fresh 18 yo, I couldn’t believe the feeling I felt when I walked into a club filled with young stylishly dressed punters from all across the city absolutely losing it to some fidget electro’ – I think elmo is dead was playing (IYKYK).. I had no choice in the matter after that night… God those days were the best.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

Well getting good at producing, came from many many hours experimenting and having fun (having fun is so important for learning and getting good), I eventually jumped in an audio engineer course which taught me alot about the acoustics and mathematics behind how music works and even though I dropped out after half a year it helped me understand a lot more about the theory of music and making sense of how it works.

9. A question you d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Q. ‘What’s something that makes you happy when you think about it?’

A. Home. With profound respect to the Dharawal people who inhabited the Wollongong area for thousands of years. Whenever I start to feel anxious or a bit funky, I remember how lucky I am to have grown up where I did. In the northern suburbs of Wollongong (south of Sydney) its gotta be one of the most beautiful places on the planet, I love heading back down there often to see family, friends and the beautiful views that take me back to my childhood.
