girli – „Crush Me Up“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I’m obsessed with matcha – so I’d say, sip on a lavender matcha latte with oat milk.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My sophomore album Matriarchy comes out on 17th May, and the Matriarchy World Tour is happening for the whole year. It’s coming to the USA, Canada, Australia, Europe and the UK.  The 4th single from the album, Crush Me Up, comes out on 22nd March! It’s a song about an all-consuming crush.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I guess it’s not totally harmless, but it’d be pretty crazy if all the people who think Avril Lavigne died and was replaced by a lookalike were right…

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Maximilist mixed with whimsy goth mixed with indie queer.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

Queer identity, mental health, challenging the patriarchy, self esteem, heartache, overthinking and healing!

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I’m a board sports girl – I surf, snowboard and skateboard.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I wear my heart on my sleeve, my live shows are safe spaces for everyone, writing songs is my version of journaling, my whole touring crew are women, and I’m queer and feminist af.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

Performance was very normal in my family because my parents are both actors. So I grew up around the stage, and I was enamoured by theatre and telling stories to people through performance. I started writing fiction and poetry as a kid, and then it turned into songs when I started my own band and learned piano and guitar when I was 14. I sang in my school choir and in school musicals from super young – I just loved being on stage.!

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls
