Eli Greeneyes – „Flowers“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before introducing your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music

Whatever you like. You do you, I’m a whiskey and negroni type of person. Just make sure you’re doing something for yourself while you’re listening. Go rock climbing, hike, Skate, roll a joint, I dunno anything that makes you feel free.

2. Please give us an update about – the new single, new album, tour dates, and new videos?!

Well it’s all out now so go check out the videos for Flowers, Not Enough and People (piano version). The band and I have been doing so many shows this year so it’s nice to have finished off the year with the Single/EP Launch show at Four5Nine last month. It was such a good night. That room is so cozy and intimate, I love it! I think it’s time to do some other things over the break like painting, cooking, skating, watching mad films while the EP does its thing.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which harmless theory would you wish were true? (For example, Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

I love conspiracy theories!!! I think E.T living in a home in California. I’d be on a plane immediately. Imagine the conversation, well, If you could have one. Aliens probably have some sumerian-english translator or something built into their throat to be able to converse with different galaxies and worlds. I could literally talk about that shit all day.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Probably Crocs because they are dorky as hell and I’m a huge dork. Don’t attack me, I know they are popular but take all that hype away and you have a dorky shoe. And hey! you wear those if that’s your vibe.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I like to write from a place of empowerment these days. I think my music used to be quite emotional, but very one sided and most of it sad. Identity and power are probably the most common threads in my music. I can write about the journey being horrific the whole way there but the destination needs to be somewhat positive, even if it’s just what I or somebody else learnt from it.

6. Besides music, do you have any unique talents?

I think I gravitate towards anything creative. It’s all connected for me……whether I’m unique or talented at doing it really isn’t my concern. I just like it for myself. for example; Painting, cooking, skateboarding.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

I’m easily inspired, raw, impulsive, borderline neurotic and very passionate.

8. How did you learn to sing/write/play??

My grandmother taught me how to sing when I was quite young. She’s an opera singer. Has the most amazing voice. No one taught me how to write music. I was just drawn to it and figured it out on my own. When I was younger it was a way of escaping and keeping my mind busy and distracted from other things, but now it’s a way of expressing and documenting where I am, how I feel, my place in the world.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but have never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

What matters to you ?

Keeping my soul intact, having fun, learning about myself and other people, Slowly but surely getting rid of any protective barriers around me that are stopping me from being open. I want to be truthful, honest and transparent in the face of anyone. I want to be free.
