Cristóvam – „Songs on a Wire“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

My pleasure! Hmm…For this record, maybe a glass of good red wine would do the trick.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

New single just came out, it’s called Ferris wheel.
New album also just came out with 12 new songs, it’s called Songs On a Wire. New lyric video came out last week too!
Currently on tour, with more dates to be announced soon!

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

Oh, Dinosaurs living inside Earth would be so cool, Jurassic Park 1 is still one of my favorite movies. But I also like old classics like Sasquatch or the Loch Ness monster.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Retro. Maybe a pair of good worn out boots combined with vintage Levi’s jeans and jacket, striped t-shirt with matching socks and a pair of Ray Ban glasses.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

That’s a vast topic because I write about pretty much everything…I guess I tend to write about things that gravitate around my life. It can either be things that I’m going through or things that are happening to someone close enough to sort of feel them as my own. I also sometimes start songs after reading a book or watching a film. But in the end, I think even in those cases, there’s always something personal in the mix.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I think I’m quite good at convincing people to buy stuff they don’t need…

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

My first album is called Hopes & Dreams.
My second album is called Songs On a Wire.
I was born and raised in Terceira island, Azores, Portugal. The ocean is my church.
I think silence is underrated.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

As a child, I grew up surrounded by music, my grandfather was the founder of a radio station and my parents always loved having their music blasting everyday. So music was always a strong part of my life, even before I started playing guitar.

We had a long time family friend, his name was Peres, he was an excepcional guitar player and used to play at my parents house parties. He would play songs from bands that me and my parents would listen to a lot, like Pink Floyd, Dire Straits or Supertramp. I fell in love with the guitar by watching him play and asked my parents for one. When I was 11, my parents got me my first guitar and he thought me how to play “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd. After that, I started trying to play other songs by myself, and after learning a few things, I quickly fell in love with creating my own melodies and eventually that led into trying to write my own words. I think that when I was 14 I already had written a bunch of songs.
