At Chloé’s Atelier des Fleurs, talents from the world of perfume art spotlight absolutely unique flowers. In doing so, they pay tribute to Gaby Aghion’s groundbreaking vision and show the versatility of species that are yet so perfect with their imperfect charm. Always with the aim of revealing the beauty of the unexplored. With this new work, Atelier des Fleurs reveals the unexpected facets of seemingly familiar species. Everything revolves around three mysterious white flowers whose scent completely changes at dusk. Is there a touch of sensuality to be felt at night? During the day, orchids, orange blossoms and tuberoses absorb the warmth and light of the sun to bloom even more fully at night. Only in the dark do they develop their sensual, intoxicating notes. As night falls, Chloé makes these fascinating aromas her own. The Maison has created three enchanting compositions presented in a cobalt blue version of the iconic Atelier des Fleurs bottle – inspired by the endless nighttime starry sky.
ORCHIDEE DE MINUIT
Only once in its life does the white orchid open in the darkness of the night. It then gives off a smooth, sweet scent that attracts pollinators to its flowers. Only after this pollination do the flowers develop into vanilla pods. Mathieu Nardin and Cécile Matton captured this unique moment in the new composition. “Orchidée de Minuit plays with the animal side of vanilla. This is where the hypnotic facets come into play, with which the orchid almost transforms into a dark flower,” they explain.
The fragrance opens with gentle notes of orchid, which merge with warm tones of clove and syrupy rum aromas. In the heart note, jasmine unfolds its full richness and sensuality, before benzoin and styrax resins provide even more lushness. The vanilla now appears transformed – it is no longer a flower, but the vanilla bean itself. Accompanied by notes of musk and patchouli, Vanilla Absolute delivers a wealth of enveloping, rich and textured notes that form the signature of this fascinating, addictive elixir.
NUIT D’ORANGER
A classic flower of the Mediterranean region where Gabi Aghion comes from, the orange blossom is not as innocent as one would think. During the day it initially exudes refreshing, delicate notes. In the stillness of the night it releases a generous, sensual scent that increases in intensity until the early hours of the morning.
“When I was able to witness the harvest just before dawn, I understood the true radiance of the orange blossom,” says perfumer Alex Lee. “The flowers open and then immediately release this energy, this amber sensuality, this unexpectedly animalistic character…”
An olfactory snapshot of a night in the Mediterranean, Nuit d’Oranger captures all these lush facets. Bitter orange petitgrain, pink pepper and bergamot combine to create an accord of green, fresh top notes, evoking the shiver of an evening breeze. Orange blossom appears in two forms as airy neroli gradually transitions into an opulent, honey-like orange blossom absolute. In the base note, a woody, herbaceous accord of mate and patchouli brings the natural surroundings of the flowering orange tree to life, adding a touch of ultimate elegance to this assertive nectar.
TUBEREUSE LAZULI
When morning breaks, tuberose exudes its green, fresh notes. But hour by hour the scent becomes more intense, more intoxicating. So perhaps it is no coincidence that the flower’s Hindi name, rajanigandha, means „the fragrant one of the night.“
“With Tubéreuse Lazuli I wanted to capture the scent of tuberose at dusk, when it blooms in the darkness after a day in the warming sun,” explains perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault. “When the moonbeams sparkle on the petals, it exudes its most beguiling notes.”
Carried by volatile bergamot and pink pepper, Indian tuberose merges with osmanthus and jasmine to create a sensual, intoxicating bouquet. The most intense facets are highlighted by a unique wood in the form of soft, pure white Oud. In the base note, slightly smoky patchouli and creamy sandalwood form a background that depicts the boundless lapis lazuli-colored sky under which the tuberose reveals all its sensuality.
