Chilla Effekt – „Flaschenpost“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I keep it classic with a freshly squeezed orange juice and ice cubes. It’s fresh like music, it gives you energy and puts a smile on your face. If that’s too boring for you and you’d rather have a cocktail, I suggest the „Night Train“, it takes you to places you don’t know and would never have thought of, just like my single „Night Express“. It comes from Manhattan, the city of a thousand faces, the birthplace of hip hop. I feel very connected to that.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

My single „Nachtexpress“ was released this September and my album on 06.10.23. It is limited available on Amazon as vinyl and CD. In Switzerland I have the distribution Cede who does that. For the single „Nachtexpress“ we shot an elaborate video in the summer. In Switzerland we were provided with a museum railroad. Here the ultimate party took place. For this, nine professional dancers specially developed a chorography. Among the dancers is the six-time Swiss champion Moira Menari and many more special dancers. The video „Nachtexpress“ is now out on Youtube and as a single. The response is enormous. I have brilliant ideas for further videos and songs. However, I would like to wait for the further resonance to plan new projects. Now the release party will take place soon, on 28.10.23 near Bern in the El Canario. I am especially looking forward to that. Some promoters are with me to exchange for more concerts. I am always open to requests. I keep my fans on Instagram always up to date. 3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

Most conspiracy theories are funny as hell in themselves. Without stepping on anyone’s toes, I’d be pretty damn happy with paradise or the land of milk and honey. Imagine everyone sitting there waiting for you. What kind of party do you think it would be? Good musicians and great people there would be then already quite a few! I’d love to be there when we let the sow out.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I always find exciting so sampled is not only in music. When things are in vogue again, which went steep in my own youth. If you ask me what I like to wear. In the week rather clique with Joop and Boss, elegant with classic colors. In the studio rather cozy hoody. At parties rather urban with jeans, fresh shirts and flatcap. Ab prefer rather sporty casual in surfer look, for example, with rhythm clothing that just fit well with my music.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

The album It is musically between rap, pop and funk. It tries to break routines to genres. It is partly danceable and should convey a good mood, but also be intelligent and tell stories. My songs often start with everyday themes, with scenes that you can feel. Whether it’s a relationship crisis being dealt with, a party you’re invited to and forgetting about everyday life. In the course of many songs the journey becomes adventurous and fantastic. Suddenly people are dancing in trains or on the streets. The songs play a lot with the longing for freedom and happiness. My idea was to give space to the music. It should become accessible to many and not be limited to one genre. We live in many constraints and bad news is the order of the day, so Chilla Effect rides a different train and invites you to ride with it

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I like to do a few things in particular. I have a soft spot for good food and cocktails. Here I can work my way into new recipes and conjure up a great evening. Furthermore I like to surf and plan trips to the sea or sometimes to the mountains

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

1. chilla effect is a Swiss artist with German roots, which is therefore cross-linked.  This is also expressed in the music. I like to travel and maintain contact in all directions.

2. my music and the way I work creatively always brings people together. I find that extremely exciting.

3. my music is therefore moving, from the emotions, but also when it goes into the legs and becomes danceable.

4. chilla effect takes you away from everyday life with music that is rooted in hip hop but transcends genres.

5. this diversity is also reflected in the fact that Chilla is not only the singer and songwriter, but has always tried new things as a beat builder, youth promoter, audio engineer, presenter or label founder.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I started playing the piano at the age of 9 and wanted to form a band early on. Own melodies and lyrics were added in the course of youth. At the age of 18 years it was then so far that the first crew was founded, with which we have made quite a few jams unsafe. From then on I taught myself everything autodidactically. I love to discover new things, to find new ways to break routines.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

Question: Have you been to Pride before?

Yes, I have been. I support diversity in every way. Chilla Effect also means live and let live. My visit was rather random though, as I was traveling with a friend in Amsterdam. We were there partying at a pretty fun party in the streets of Amsterdam among lots of dancing people and local DJs. Rarely have I seen such a peaceful atmosphere at a party. Pride is highly recommended, regardless of orientation.
