Chad Post – „If I Was God“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Hello, thank you for your time, please introduce yourself in a few words!

My name is Chad Post. I’m a singer, songwriter, and visual artist based in New York City!

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

‘If I Was God’ is my eccentric and energetic new single that I’m so stoked to share. I released my album ‘Kingdom + Exile’ last July and since then I have been curating my next sounds and imagery. This is definitely a departure track for me. It is the first single from my third LP! (which I still can’t believe) It was really important for me to get the first single right because it sets the mood for what is to come. Stylistically this record merges all of my previous sounds—dark, brooding, badass, introspective, but poppy and fun as well. I’m bringing it to the next level. I have a lot of dope visuals to match the mood. I’m so excited! I will be having shows in the spring in NYC!

3. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

That’s hard! Okay here we go.. 1. I write everything I put out and co-produce every song. 2. All of the visuals, concepts, and direction comes from me. 3. I study music like it is a full-time job, so you’re definitely going to hear some influences in my music and songwriting. 4. I write poetry and screenplays and those sometimes turn into songs—there’s a fine line. 5. I’m a very sensitive and nurturing person and love to share my art.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

Living in New York, I’m always dressed in black! I like to think my style is kind of mix of street fashion, grunge, emo-punk, and throw in a little Hamptons/Lana Del Rey vibe when the weather is warmer.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

I am a Cancer so I tend to be hard on the outside and soft on the inside. I think that shows in my music. I hate confrontation (which is a fault, I know!) but again that usually means it comes out in the music. I say anything I want to say or should have said—in my music. There is a lot of heartbreak and a lot of anger and disappointment. Naturally I am not an angry person so if I am going to say a zinger, it’ll be in song. ‘If I Was God’ is me processing the hurt I have felt that built up over the past few years. Forgiving myself, because ‘EVEN if I was GOD’ I still couldn’t have done anything to make them want to stay. Songs of mine like ‘Warrior’ and ‘Show Me The Receipts’ allowed me to make social justice stances that I felt extremely necessary.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I direct and edit all of my music videos and video content. Which seems like it’s a part of the music side, but it is a totally different animal and uses another part of my brain. I also went to culinary school, so most of my friends and family would say that I’m a really good chef and pastry chef, but I sort of gave that up. Now I just love to eat!

7. Being on stage feels like….!

Honestly, I have NO idea how to describe it. For me, I become another human. Or maybe not even human! The experience is a mixture of excitement, nerves, happiness, and literally blacking out. Right after the show, it’s hard to even process what happened because there is so much adrenaline. I miss performing so much. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon!

8. How did you learn to sing/to write/to play?

I began taking voice lessons when I was around 10, but then gave it up for a few years because I was shy. Melody and lyric writing came from always writing poetry. I was about 15 or 16 and started recording random melodies in garageband and then formulated songs based on structures I knew. No one in my family makes music or sings, so they still wonder where I got it from!

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! + Answer pls

‘What is your guiltiest pleasure?’

I really love good food. I don’t really cook anymore, but I LOVE eating and dissecting flavors..also Pro Wrestling. I love it. I have the t shirts, the action figures, the belts– I’m a wrestling nerd.
