1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to sip while listening to your music?
Since I don’t drink alcohol at all, I’d definitely recommend something tropical and fruity, maybe a fresh smoothie or a colorful fruit drink.
My music has many different colors and facets, so I feel like something vibrant and full of flavor fits perfectly. If you asked my producer Philipp though, his answer would definitely be: coffee.
2. Please give us an update about your new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!
We’re very excited because this Friday, May 29th, our new album and the accompanying music video will finally be released.
We’ve put a lot of heart and energy into this project, so it feels very special to finally share it with the world.
We also already have some live dates coming up and are looking forward to bringing the music to the stage and connecting with people in real life.
Tourdates:
17.10 Carinerland – MV
3. We live in times full of conspiracy theories. Which harmless theory would you wish was true?
I think I’d choose the Michael Jackson one. There have always been these rumors that he’s still alive somewhere, living peacefully on a quiet island and simply enjoying life away from all the pressure and attention.preferably while sipping a tropical non alcoholic drink.
4. Which fashion style or brand best describes your music?
That’s actually a difficult question because my music has many different sides, and my style changes depending on the mood and character of each song.
Different songs call for different outfits and aesthetics. But if I had to mention a few brands that I personally really love, I’d say Named Collective and Jaded London.
I actually wore pieces from Jaded London for our cover shoot as well. I love fashion that has personality and can feel bold, expressive, and a little unexpected, just like music can.
5. If I went into every single song, it would probably take up way too much space, so I’ll just mention a few examples.
We have songs like Panama, which reflects my roots from my father’s side of the family.
I always love going back to Panama, and for me it’s also a little escape, especially during the winter when Germany gets cold and dark.
Then there are songs like Zombie, which describe both people in general and myself as well, how we can sometimes get trapped in a world full of social media and endless impressions and distractions. It’s almost like holding up a mirror to society.
And then there are songs like Himmel, which is actually one of my personal favorites.
t has this dreamy, atmospheric feeling that opens the door to other worlds and touches on more philosophical thoughts and questions.
6. Do you have any hidden talents or special skills besides music?
And I also have one very important hidden talent… I can wiggle my ears. I’m not sure how useful that skill is in everyday life.
7. Five things people should know about you?
I have multicultural roots,my father is from Panama, my mother is from Ukraine, and I grew up in Germany. I think this mix of cultures and perspectives is reflected in my music as well.
I sometimes feel like I belong nowhere and everywhere at the same time.
Because of my background, I also speak several languages.
Even though I’m often the face people see on covers, photos, or in videos, I’m definitely not doing this alone.
I have my partner, producer, and keyboard player Philipp by my side, an amazing band that has been performing with me for many years, our label, and a whole team of wonderful people working together behind the scenes.
And one thing I get asked surprisingly often: yes, my hair is real.
8. How did you learn to sing, write songs, and play music?
I started playing the piano when I was seven years old at music school. Later on, I began exploring singing on my own and discovered that I really loved expressing myself through my voice.
After school, I went on to study at the University of Music and Theatre, and that was actually where I really started writing songs for the first time.
9. What is one question you always wish people would ask you in interviews, but never do
That’s actually not an easy one. Of course, a lot of things in my life revolve around music and our songs, and I love talking about them.
But since I was fourteen, I’ve been vegetarian, and over the years I’ve become really interested in healthy nutrition, a healthy lifestyle, well being, and also spirituality.
Besides music and art, it’s also very important to me to live a healthy and balanced life, and I believe that nutrition is an important part of that. These are topics I’ve explored a lot through my own personal experiences, and I’d really enjoy talking more about them as well.
