Bria – „1AM ELEMENTS“ + Exclusive Interview

1. Thank you very much for your time! Before we introduce your new release to our readers – what kind of drink would you recommend to zip on while they listen to your new music?

I always say, my music is a fusion of sound, textures and genres. So, my go to would be a Whiskey Sour, where you have an element of sour with citrus, cozy feeling with the egg white, sweet with a touch of syrup and a punch with the whiskey.

Any drink that makes you feel yourself to be honest, as long as you’re feeling sexy you’redoing something right.

2. Please give us an update about – new single, new album, tour dates, new videos?!

So, since this summer, I released a series of singles which culminated on December 2nd, when I dropped my EP -´1AM ELEMENTS` along with the music video for the fifth single Sugar. I’d like to kick off next year with new music and visuals some which are already in the works, but one of my main focuses is to work more on collaborating with other artists and creatives who I haven’t worked with before. I just want to grow and continue developing my sound. My other focus for next year would be to perform a lot more as the music that I make belongs on stage, its high energy and it’s the place I feel happiest.

3. We live in times of many conspiracy theories. Which, harmless, theory would you wish were true? (For example Dinos living inside Earth or E.T. living in a home in California)

There are two conspiracy theories. I desperately wish were true. That mermaids actually exist, and have been living amongst us for thousands of years…I’ve always been obsessed with mermaids and mythology since I was a kid, so mermaids are sirens, I’m here for it.

The other one would be that Tupac is actually alive and just decided to give up on rap music and go live a peaceful life in South America but is secretly planning a comeback, that would literally be the biggest plot twist ever.

4. What fashion style or brand would best describe your music?

I’m not sure I know of particular brand could encompass all the different styles that my music has but I like how versatile and random Moschino is at times. They always have a lot of bold pieces and colours and I get a lot of inspiration from their fashion shows.

5. Tell us more about your songs! Topics! Message!?

My songs have a recurring theme which is self-confidence and standing up for yourself. After working in music for a long time, I have been through a lot of hard stuff which has led me to a point where I truly believe I know myself and I stand empowered and a lot stronger than I used to be. I wanted my music to reflect this growth, and where I am on my journey through womanhood. I like for people to feel empowered and confident when listening to my music but most of all I want them to have fun.

6. Beside music, do you have any special talents?

I am an absolute language buff, I love languages and I pride myself on being able to pick up languages rather quickly and maybe this connects to music somehow but I am pretty decent at imitating accents as well. I grew up in a culturally diverse home and went to an international school full of kids from different backgrounds so I’ve always been surrounded by various cultures and accents and I love it. At the moment I speak English, Spanish, Patois, German and I am currently learning Korean, I think I will start sign language next year.

7. Name 5 things we all should know about you as an artist?!

– I do more than just sing and write. I am hands on with everything on my project, from the sound, to the visuals, to the choreographies.

– I love making music for other artists as well, songwriting is so fulfilling

– I believe the future of music is fusion, so you will always be able to hear a mix of genres in whatever I do.

– I find inspiration in almost every genre and I listen to pretty much everything

-I hope to one day make music for series and movies or write a musical.

8. How did you learn to sing/ to write/ to play??

I started singing when I was six and vocally trained for 18 years. I began writing poetry and stories from when I was 8 because I’ve always loved literature and reading. Storytelling has always been a passion, and I started writing my own songs when I was 15 and I started writing for others a few years later.

9. A question you’d like to answer, but never been asked in an interview before?! Answer pls

What are three things you would like to change about the music industry

– The lack of female representation, there aren’t enough women in music and there aren’t enough safe spaces for the women that are in music.

– I wish more artists were independent, artists need to retain more creative control over their work and see the benefits of it without the hundreds of middle men trying to take something from it.

– More respect for artists and creatives in general because if you tried to imagine a world without art. Society would collapse, art has always been the thread holding everything together , our jobs are just as important as doctors and politicians. I just wish it felt that way.
